Not sure why you're trying to convince yourself that Locker is a better QB than the Heisman Trophy winner.

Newton by a mile. He is a much better passer. Locker is nothing without his running ability.
quote:
agreed he did in every game but Clemson. However, Auburn is a better team and if Darvin wasn't playing well Cam could win the game by himself or use his TE, or #2 WR or even his #3 WR.
Overall Auburn has some more offensive talent than Washington but a good reason why it looked that way was because Cam Newton is THAT much better than Locker. There is no questioning Newton blew away Locker this year. Do you really think Locker would of had any close to a similar year playing with Auburn as Newton did? Not a chance.

Auburn plays better competition. No telling what those players would do vs. weaker competition.
So wait a second, wouldnt this also work against you in the Cam vs. Jake debate? Cam not only played leaps and bounds better this year but played MUCH tougher competition overall.

whose?
Which recently updated list is he still Top 10/15 in (that's reputable)? He's #23 now on ESPN Scout INC after starting the year #1.

every draft website.
I frequent a few and havent really heard a thing about him since beginning of year. He's fallen way off.

I've seen Locker play multitudes of times. He's not very good.

does he play in a pro style offense? Will he have to make reads in the nfl and call audibles (things he doesn't do now? Will he have to throw in tight windows?
I'm not saying Cam isn't the better qb just saying It's close.

Locker is an athlete trying to play QB. In 5 years, he is just as raw as he was out of HS. His yards per completion is very pedestrian, but then again, pedestrian comes up a lot when talking about Locker's QB play...

It's really not close. Newton blew Locker away this year. IT's pretty telling when as a QB you never have a completion % above 60%...career 54%.

doesn't mean he will get taken that late just means OVERALL he is the #23 player.

still BY FAR the #1 SR. QB.

I hear ya, FWIW, Locker does not measure up to his hype IMHO, but we're not talking about apples and oranges, rather, lemons and kumquats.
jury is definitely out, definitely.

Once again Locker has some legit talent around him too, Auburn doesnt have MUCH better talent. Overall, yes, but that's not what made Newton look WAY better this year. HE's just that much better than Locker.
And you never responded to do you think Locker would of been nearly as good as Cam in Auburn's offense this year. I guess it's because the answer is clearly hell no.

So in the first link one guy has him Top 10 while the other has him outside the 1st round. The second link that guy has been way off a lot of times (Also from the start of the month). Not a very good looking mock either overall.
At any rate, it's clear Locker has fallen way off on most people's minds in terms of NFL overall. If he didn't start the year thought of so highly he wouldn't be on anyone's 1st round or Top 32 player list.

I never said that's what that # meant. I know they rank them by overall.

That's not saying much considering off the top of my head I can't even think of a very good senior QB (NFL wise)...including Locker.

no b.c. the OC adapted the offense perfectly around Cam.

he is also one of the most respected draft guys out there.

doesn't help that they drop the screens at times.

Newton
Mallett
Foles
Gabbert
If Gabbert declares, he'll push Locker back. He has shown more in 2 years as a QB than Locker has in 4. Locker is like a HS QB, he is there because he's the best athlete on the team...
Posted on 12/25/10 at 5:35 pm to adammwilson
Its pretty obvious you would have Locker's babies if it were physically possible. I havent seen him play more than 2 games all year, and cant even remember who they were against, and I dont remember him being anything spectacular. I do however remember hearing some random espn talking heads referring to him as one of the single biggest disapointments in college football this year. Take it for what its worth.
