This is the correct answer. It'll be interesting to see what happens with Georgia regardless if the QBs are allowed to practice with the most talented players at WR and TE because for half of the season they were not this year.

Passing YardsLast updated - December 31, 2016 Through games of December 30, 2016
RANK NAME TEAM CL POSITION G PASS ATT PASS COM INT PASS TD PASS YDS
57 Jalen Hurts Alabama Fr. QB 13 337 220 9 22 2592
63 Jacob Eason Georgia Fr. QB 13 370 204 8 16 2430
Looks pretty even to me in passing yards. Hurts is much higher in passing effiency. I think the jet sweeps help with that.
Don't give me the better athletes around him argument either. UGA consistently puts together good recruiting classes, too. That should insult UGA fans. It looks pretty even to me. In my opinion Eason has better passing ability but not by a lot. Hurts has much better running instincts and I think most college teams would start Hurts over Eason. As far as who will have the better career or who has the highest ceiling? Depends on how they develop, and you never know, some freshman or JUCO transfer could come in and take either of their jobs. All I have to go by in this year, and Hurts had a better year running and slightly better throwing than Eason.

For half the season Georgia wasn't starting their best talents at WR and TE for some reason other than McKenzie.
Yes its weird, but it's true. Eason had some accuracy issue problems but guys like Michael Chigbu and Jayson Stanley didn't show me anything...and they were playing a lion's share of snaps.
Even if Chigbu and Stanley had a QB with better accuracy they would have really struggled.
And Georgia's offensive line was much worse.

The op is about Eason vs Hurts it doesn't say college or for how long. Give me Eason for 10 years and I will give you Hurts for ten years and we each get 50% of their earnings. Lets see who ends up with the most Moolah. I'll take my chances with Eason.

I'll take Hurts. The chances of him developing into a better passing threat is much better than Eason developing into a good runner.

Eason. He's going to be amazing

I really haven't watched Georgia play much this year so I can't comment on Eason but Hurts currently is a more mobile version of Tajh Boyd. A lot of his yards come on jet sweeps and screens or short passes to receivers and he can be very inaccurate on his intermediate throws at times. Whenever he has to deal with pressure, Hurts always looks to take off and run instead of going through his reads and trying to find open receivers. Plus all of the negative plays such as sacks and turnovers can be maddening at times. Tajh Boyd had all of the weaknesses that I just mentioned which is why he had an ugly tendency to crumble in big games against South Carolina and Florida State. Hurts still has a long way to go as a quarterback.

This really is stupid. I suspect you haven't watched a single UGA game. I've seen Bama quite a bit. Hurts gets to go through his entire check down, take a sip of water, double check, then make his run/pass choice.
Eason is lucky to get a slant route off half the time.
If you swapped teams their numbers wouldn't be close at all. Eason would throw for 10,000 yards behind Bama's Oline and running game.

I suppose I am supposed to pretend that Eason had better year than Hurts. Even though he is behind in every stat vs Hurts.I am not being a Bama homer, you are being a UGA homer.

Where did I say Eason had a better year? I didn't because he didn't. I'm simply pointing out that it sure as hell matters if one Oline is NFL caliber and one is awful. You said it did not.
You watching the Heisman trophy winner? Does he suck or does his Oline?

terrible analysis. Boyd set a ton of Clemson and ACC passing records. He was one of the best passing QBs in college football of the past 20 years.
Boyd also played behind a bad or medicore O-line all 3 years. any QB is going to crumble with no pass protection. obviously Boyd won a lot of big games, to includ LSU, UGA, and Ohio State, which you conveniently ignored.
Hurts is a completely different player than Boyd. Boyd was never a running qb.

Hurts easily and this is coming from a long time Georgia fan. Nothing against Eason, I think he will definitely get better if our OL improves but I would rather have a legit dual-treat QB like Hurt or Deshaun Watson vs any pro-style QB in college football. I just don't know why any team wouldn't want to add an extra dimension to their offense with QB who can run effectively and pass accurately. Hurt literally transformed Bama's offense from a mediocre predictable unit into something much greater. And frankly, if Bama had an OC who could really take advantage of Hurt's dual-threat capability, Bama's offense could reach the level Clemson as achieved with Watson at the helm.

This is easy...Hurts in college, Eason in the NFL

Slot receivers make a lot in the NFL

I can't tell if you are being serious. On most teams Hurts would be an unknown.

Tajh Boyd was a better passer than Hurts.

LOL! What the hell are you smoking? Bama and UGA's recruiting classes aren't equal. You'd also have to be blind to claim UGA's offensive line and receivers are anywhere close to Bama's. UGA's offensive line sucks, and it's receivers aren't much better. That is what is insulting to UGA fans. Bama's are among the best in the country.
We saw how much Hurts sucked at passing last night.
