Great defensive player in a down year for the conference. I have no qualms with a great defender being player of the year. His problem is he took that award and suddenly decided he was a great offensive player as well. He's not, never has been, never will be. And that is ok as long as he's not the guy we have taking game winning drives to the basket.

It's really the coaches fault. Rank the players in order of who you think can drive successfully. Herb would almost be 3rd from last.

Petty
Herb
Reese
Bruner

Why set your player up for failure?

I've been harping on this all postseason. Got absolutely trashed for pointing out after the Iona game that Herb was becoming too much of a focal point of the offense.

Herb Jones has strayed from his role in the postseason and the team is suffering for it./link]

Funny you mention him because I've been saying for quite some time that Herb Jones would be a much better player if he were more like Dennis Rodman and stayed within his defined role instead of trying to be more than he is. Phil Jackson certainly wouldn't have had Rodman shooting game winners in the playoffs and Oats shouldn't have had Herb Jones doing it.

When did Phil Knight become a coach? Always love when a shoe mogul knows how to manage role players.
