Maybe they can do simple math and figure out spending $21 million to fire and hire a JV coach is just about as stupid as you can get.

I think paying any college coach $6M a year is beyond stupidity, regardless.
Buyouts only screw the schools.

I'm kind of over even caring how much coaches are getting paid at this point. With the money we already receive every year from our TV deals and that number only getting bigger with the new deal with ESPN, everyone is playing with monopoly money. The buyouts aren't ever paid by the school. If the boosters want to spend their money on them, by all means. This year proved that even in an economic climate during COVID won't preclude big buyouts being paid. I think it's more telling when an SEC school isn't willing to shell out big money for a HC and staff. The thing that stood out to me the most with the Auburn hire is why fire Gus if you're not ready to sign a guy immediately you're pretty confident will do better (see Texas firing Herman and hiring Sark within 24 hours). Harsin just seemed like to much of unknown to justify trading for what Auburn had with Gus. I guess maybe things were stale and Auburn just wanted a fresh start. Who knows. I guess time will tell.
I do find it funny, though, when fans try to argue about what AD is poor and/or get bent out of shape about the amount of a buyout when 1) None of our ADs are "poor" anymore; and 2) none of our money is paying these buyouts, rich people can spend their money however they wish for all I care.
