re: It was ABSOLUTELY pass interference in the endzone, and it changed the game

It’s worth calling out, officiating should always strive to do better all around?
This is true. It won't help in the past but it may in the future and it certainly doesn't hurt.
The problem with officiating being as poor as it is ain't the way it impacts games....bad as that is it is nothing compared to what could very well happen with sports gambling being as bad as it is. The UGA Alabama game is a PERFECT example. Alabama was a slight favorite by kick off. 3 questionable calls from the officials, or no calls, were noted BUT it is so common the CFB world has more or less moved on. The facemask, the close interception and the no call PI. We all noticed, but no one can do anything about it. That is a perfect recipe for gamblers to buy some influence. To do so it would have to be completely one sided and it wasn't....but we have all seen games where it seemed to be and it wouldn't be notable if it was indeed all one sided.
The UC call that ended the game is a good example. They both threw hands....usually its the second one that gets called on it but the flag did not come out when the Alabama player threw his first punch, which was AFTER the UGA player did....the flag came out when the Alabama player threw the third punch which was his second one. Whoever threw that flag could have flagged UGA for the first one, Alabama for the second one or Alabama for the third one which is what happened....no one would question ANY of these scenarios....and ANY of them would have changed momentum significantly....as it turned out it ended the game. There wasn't enough time left with no TOs to stop the clock, all UGA had to do was run the victory play and it was over. I am not suggesting gambling was or has ever been involved (I think the latter is pretty damned naive) but I think it is entirely possible that gamblers could certainly influence outcomes of games given that the entirety of the CFB world is on the same page as far as officiating goes - it is bad.

Odd melt for a team that supposedly won fair and square.
Because they know that they did not win fair and square.
At least my family, filled with Bulldog fans, knew it was a gift.

I really want to believe it’s just incompetence because the situation you are describing would kill any love for the sport I have left.

Bama got a gift too. That was not fair

And there are 31,566 holding calls that need to be made up against Ole' Rammer Jammer......................................so just get over it.
Some people think the refs need to do a better job, and that is true in some cases.
But it pales in comparison to the amount of mistakes fans make based on their extremely limited knowledge of the rules.

Refs have always been fallible. The difference now is we have 100 different camera angles to showcase every bad or missed call, and social media to memorialize and viralize them.

Lmfao from an Alabama fan!
I genuinely stand by this. I HATE games we won where there’s a controversial call that overshadows it. Maybe you have me mixed up with other bama fans on here, but my preferred way of winning is a game with no controversial stupidity on either side of the ball or injuries that end up churning out countless dissertations and butthurt soliloquies about what if.
