The committee has historically punished regular season blowout losses. Ole Miss fans are claiming they should be ranked in the top 10 but historically that would make them an extreme outlier. Here's a complete list of teams who had a regular season loss of 35+ points and did not go on to win their conference, who finished ranked in the top 10 of the CFP rankings:

2016 USC - lost 52-6 to Alabama in week 1 of the season. They also lost @Stanford and @Utah. They gave conference champ #4 Washington their only loss. Ranked #9 in the final CFP poll heading into their Rose Bowl bid.

End of list

No, we were missing our two best linebackers AND had the ball at the 50 with a chance to win at the end of the game.

That's exactly how Ole Miss and Georgia went right?

Georgia was missing the best player in the country (Brock bowers).

We were also down our best ILB and some depth on the DL.

Schrader also didn't "gash" UGA (you didn't post this but another Mizzou fan did). He had a great game.
112 yards rushing and 1 TD.

Ole Miss really handled Arkansas too didn't they? How badly did you beat them again?

Lol. That's exactly the point. Do you want to talk about unimpressively beating Florida, a close loss to UGA or barely beating MTSU? The only difference in common opponents from a W/L perspective is that OM beat LSU and Mizzou loss to them at home.

By objective measures, Penn State is a lot better than Ole Miss. Also by my eye, because I have watched at least part of every game of both.

Sagarin has Penn State #6 and OM #16.

The Massey ratings composite of 20+ computer polls has Penn State #9 and OM #13.

site is crap if they think TX has the 4th hardest schedule in the nation.

Again, it's what the CFP committee chose to use. I don't necessarily agree, but it's the relevant data in front of them.

The ACC even defaulted to them in 2016 ( LINK) to settle a tie breaker for the CCG before the CFP rankings that week we're released.

He ran for more yards than anyone else.

How'd Ole Miss do against you again?

Because other teams use more than 1 running back does not make Schrader more impressive.
Ole Miss ran for more yards than Mizzou.
So did Auburn.
So did Georgia Tech.

They ran for 28 more yards and 1 more rushing TD.

That's where Dink screwed up. Schrader ran for over 5 yards a pop. He only had 22 carries which was too low for him.

They may have won if they had rode that horse a little harder.

Can’t do that. All that matters is the score of the Georgia loss. Literally makes them better than us.

Not the LSU game. Not MTSU. That doesn’t matter.

Schrader is by farrrrrrr the best back in the SEC this year.

You’re an idiot. This is the rankings of the top backs in the sec.

RB - at least 75 carries
1. UT - Jaylen Wright - 90.5
2. UGA - Kendall Milton - 89.1
3. UK - Ray Davis - 88.4
4. OM - Ulysses Bentley IV - 85.4
5. OM - Quinshon Judkins - 83.9

Don’t see your guy here could you point him out to me? I do see that we have tah-two of our backs in the top five.

Wait a second

*rubs eyes*

Am I seeing a board on this site where fellow SEC schools are defending Mizzou’s right to play in a NY6? This really has been one hell of a year.

Ole Miss has had a great year as-well. But with neither team playing anymore games and MIZ already being ranked ahead of OM I’d say this one is all but official. That isn’t an opinion just a fact, neither team did anything that would flop them in the newest CFP rankings.

Again I think last half of season eye test favored Mizzou. Recency bias is a thing. Jmho

Also seemed like Mizzou had more media coverage for some reason.

If you flip schedules, Ole Miss would have been a 11-1, Missouri would have been 9-3.

What makes you think that?
