Before WWII there were many polls, and the AP was a regional one.

Uh what? There was ONE poll before WW2, and it was the AP. Then the Helms Athletic "Foundation" (started by a bakery owner and his buddies in Los Angeles) in the early 40s.

My nephew literally moved to Long Beach last week just in time for the storm and a simultaneous earthquake. He said he was expecting clouds of locusts next.

Tennessee Volunteers outscored its opponents 212-0 in the regular season. They are the last team to not give up a point in the regular season while going 10-0.

Some claim 6.

We should claim 1939 for sure. The Vols went 10-0 and outscored their opponents 212-0 that year in the regular season. It’s absurd they finish #2 in the poll.

In fairness, y'all lost 14-0 in your bowl game, so it appears as if they got it right.

Which ones? I saw two.

ETA

Just looked at them and saw 1964 and 1973 had losses in their Bowl game and a tie in 1926, to go along with 1941 and 1965.

Either way they would still have a whole lot more than Georgia.

Fair enough. I get it, though. Everybody wants to have as many as they can get, and some look legit enough.

In November of that year, the #1 team in the country beat their conference opponent 13-0 and had outscored their opponents 186-0 at that point, but still fell to #2 in the polls. The team that jumped them had just beaten a team that would finish the season 6-3-1 by the score of 6-2 the week prior.

Georgia's 42 title Georgia was consensus.

Ohio State was selected as the national champion by the Associated Press (AP). The Georgia Bulldogs won the SEC championship and had an overall record of 11–1, including a victory over UCLA in the 1943 Rose Bowl.

Honestly just about every NC in just about every year had multiple title winners. Stinks, but it makes for some good arguments.

You just proved my point. The AP was the first poll and the only poll before WW2.

LOL.... you are not very good at research then. While some of them were not, some were. You said that there were none, and you are wrong.
