Obviously its tough to beat Bama vs. Florida right now in terms of prestige. My thought was the Oregon Stanford game will go farther in shaping this season.

I meant currently as in today, at this point in time.

You mean, you think OSU is a better team than Florida this year? Because that doesn't mean OSU has a better football program than Florida. I think others gave the reasons for that already.

BTW, I think Florida would beat Oregon, right now. We have a defense, and they don't.

Didn't read all of the post but if either Oregon or Stanford are undefeated at the end of the season with Ohio State, and UA or UF. The PAC10 would be left out of the BCSNCG. SOS, just isn't there for them right now.

Sorry Auburn.

Alabama or Florida would stomp both Oregon and Stanford by at least 2 touchdowns.
I don't think so.

After getting to see Oregon live a couple of weeks ago (now admittedly that was against Tennessee) I think the Ducks beat the Gators by 7-10 points given the way UF has been playing lately.

Oregon/Bama would be a great game. Bama's DBs would be tested if the UO line could hold up the rush any at all. I think it would be a 3, maybe 7 point game either way and possibly whoever had the ball last would win.

Haven't seen enough of the big ugly tree to say one way or the other.

Without a doubt

This is correct. I was thinking from a team perspective, not program.

They could say, "We have an offense, and they don't"
FWIW, Oregon is ranked 3rd in scoring D
Also, the one common opponent for both teams is Tennessee. Go take a look at the results, they speak for them self

It probably wouldn't be SOS, it would be the preseason poll bias... opinion polls will keep bama and osu above other undefeateds unless they lose more games

OOC none of those teams play a particularly good schedule but Oregon's is probably the worst

Alabama - PSU, Duke, San Jose State, Ga State
Florida - FSU, South Florida, Miami (OH), App State
OSU - Miami, Marshall, Ohio, Eastern Michigan
Oregon - Tenn, New Mexico, Portland State
Stanford - Wake Forest, Notre Dame, Sacramento state

PAC has 9 conference games vs 8 for the Big 10 tho (SEC relevant team gets 9 as well with CCG)

Forgive the lack of SEC homerism

Dude, I live in Oregon and have to put up with Duck fans every day. After the LSU/UO game was announced in Dallas a fellow LSU alum friend of mine was cussed out by a Duck fan while out making groceries. The Ducks have a big enough ego already. They are the Florida of the Pac 10 without the crystal footballs to back up their flash and ego. So no I can't and won't forgive you. You SHOULD be a SEC homer.

Florida/Bama is way more interesting to me and most college football fans who grew up in flyover country.

I don't care how good Stanford is. Stanford vs. anybody is never going to be viewed as a bigger game than Bama/Florida. Bama and Florida have a LONG history of great games of high import. They were neck and neck for the BCS title last year. Bama made Tebow cry. Stanford/Oregon? Are you kidding me?

That an LSU fan had to ASK if Stanford-Oregon is a bigger game than Bama/Florida makes me question your fanhood and perhaps even your manhood.

No game right now is any bigger than the BAMa game, we're number 1.

Florida might not be a top 2 or top 3 team this year, although it might still be too early to tell for sure.

But as far as programs go, right now, Alabama and Florida are #1 and #2 in college football and they will stay that way as long as they can keep their coaches.
