Ouch!! Smoke is actually better.

The worst coach at LSU in the past 30 years is better than their greatest coach in history.

similar starts to year 5 too. Smoke was 19-7 through 2 SEC series, and Vitello is 20-6

first four years

Vitello took over a team that won 7 conference games year prior and 9 conference games year before that. That’s 16 conference wins in 2 years prior to Vitello.

Smoke took over a team that was in the college World Series finals the year before he showed up. Smoke took over a winning team. Vitello had to build what he currently has now. The situations between the 2 are drastically different. Now compare Vitello last 2 years compared to Smoke last 3 years at LSU.

As head coach? no he didn't. LSU won the CWS in 2000. His first year as head coach was 2002. LSU was eliminated in the super regionals by Tulane in 2001

That would be August Edmun Garrido Jr., a man whose nut sack has a better resume than Vitello.

Regardless, the point is the end results are the same and at one program the results get you fired and at another program these results get you the greatest coach in program history.
