In the big12 mixer every game was on the road this year. That hurt some.

The tournament has been very large for years and years and ballooned to 64 in 1985. Blame apathy, blame the internet, blame whatever, but don’t blame the size of the tournament.

I’m not, I’m simply stating that with 68 teams, the best team is less likely to win than if it were 8 teams. I’m not assigning a good or bad to it nor showing favoritism to any right sizing of the tournament. Basketball lends itself to upsets more so than football. With a single elimination and 68 teams the probability of the best team not winning is much higher than in a smaller field.
