This site used to reference the al.com message boards as a cesspool because they were nothing but constant trolling and juvenile insults, with precious little actual discussion of any kind. Nowadays the al.com message boards probably do the same thing in reverse.

I don’t quite have your tenure. But, yes. I’m guilty of it sometimes. I’ve gotten to the point of not caring because the mods don’t moderate any of it - politics spill over, alters are rampant, and trolling is more prevalent than actual sports convo(again, I admit, I’ve started an Aggie thread or two). When I first signed up and was a lurker, this place was heaven. Now it’s the 9th circle.

I will say it's partly our fault (or at least mine) — I know at times I'm guilty of taking 30 seconds to post a GIF instead of spending a few minutes to type out a reasonable comment.
If we all stopped being little bitches by actually participating, ignoring obvious trolls, and not letting more "serious" threads get so derailed, we could probably turn it around in short order.
It's possible to have both types of content here, sports and idiocy, which makes it the best of both worlds. We've just let the latter saturate the board lately and the pendulum has probably swung too far.

I somewhat agree with you. But it is readily apparent that there are a handful of posters that are trying to engage in some good dialogue and the vast majority are just alters/trolls/bots whose sole purpose is to stir the pot. I got it that tCluckster has to make his money. Just wish we could strike a balance. Makes me long for the days of tLawDawg running this joint.

Yeah. Those were good days of reading and not having to look at Hogville. Didn’t trolling usually follow lines like “Flame Aggie Tuesday”, etc.? Was a lot more original and tSECRANT board had a lot more to do with actual sports talk.

Texas playing Alabama two years in a row and joining the SEC isn't helping the trolling.
When I see anyone Longhorn posters who weren't here before 2019, I assume it's Serraneaux or Lil Willy.

I think it coincided with the Oklahoma/Texas news, when a lot of people made fake accounts whose sole purpose was to troll.
There was another wave of Tennessee alters.
And alters can be funny (you know who I'm talking about), but these were just purposefully irritating or mean-spirited.
Seeing the same exact thing posted 50 times in a day just gets to be too much.

I agree, there are too many trolls and alters. If you want to be extremely honest and let go of your prejudices to have an actual discussion of what is wrong with this particular board on the site, let me know.
On the surface, without much detailed explanation, it's the lsu fans. They are the problem. Very few are as reasonable and decent as you, Wolfhound.
Most of them lack brain matter of any type and if you can kind of take in the whole atmosphere of the board, it's always the lsu fans causing issues with fans of all other teams.
So many of them lack the ability to have adult conversations, I suppose due to their environment and culture? Tell me if I am wrong. I certainly could be but, what is it that makes them like they are?
Maybe they feel like this particular board, SEC Rant, is not under their control like Tiger Rant and many other boards on the site? Does that make them do retard acts to just kind of trash up the board?
Does it make them feel like they have accomplished something, make them happy, when they constantly destroy thread after thread after thread?
I don't have all the answers, maybe none, but if you pay close attention, it's always the lsu fans starting the shite and others just reacting.
Could maybe all of them be banned from the board except for a select few, like you and a couple others I could mention, to make the board readable and enjoyable for everyone?
