Texas high school football has lost a lot of physicality since spread offenses trickled down and now dominate the state. It’s not that the kids are any less talented, it’s just that they spend waay too much time learning pass pro now and very little time learning how to pancake the guy in front of you. Run blocking like a road grader is a lost art among more and more high school linemen. Texas Longhorn football has paid the price for that neglect over the past 20 years. The OL kids aren’t tough anymore because they don’t know how to be tough. They are bigger, stronger, and faster but can’t move the pile when they need it. It’s a shame.

Well said. You nailed it.

Texas has more national championships than Clemson and South Carolina combined.

You must be a little kid?

Think about TXHSFB like this...
Imagine UCF/USF/FIU/FAU players winning Heisman Trophies and NFL MVP awards...That's always happened in TX.

You might be just having fun but if serious, what does UT sucking have to do with Texas HS sports? FSU has sucked monkey nuts but that has nothing to do with Florida HS sports does it?

Imagine the most populous state outside of California having the most members of the NFL HOF.

You realize that Texas has more death row/excuted inmates since 1976 too, right?

What's amazing is how shitty college football was in the state of Florida in the 1970s and 1980s (Miami almost dropped their football program in the 70s, FSU being a girl's school) until Schnellenberger changed things. Imagine had he come to Miami in 1966 and integrated Miami instead of going to coach in the NFL. Those titles Texas won in 1969 & 70 might have been in South Florida instead.

The by-product of prison & gun culture in an outlaw state, I guess. I find that it's easier for me to buy guns legally here in FL than it is back in TX tho...

No. As population goes, so does inmate population.

Saying Texas has more inmates because of gun/prison culture is like saying they have more NFL HOFers because they have the best High School football.

You might say the same about TX. If TCU/TTU/BAY/SMU/UH didn't exist + a damn good coach - there may be an extra natty or two in the state of TX...

Ok, so big states have big prison populations. Great. What's that got to do with LT being a HOFer or Mahomes being an NFLMVP?

You're saying that they're automatically supposed to do those things just because TX is a big state? They play good ball in TX at the HS level...

In the 2020 NFL Draft 7 of the first 45 players were from Houston alone. 15%. They went that high because TX produces good ball players...PERIOD
That's not overrated or because of size alone..

It is though.
If 1 player in a million makes the NFL, Texas is always gonna have more players than any other state where football is king. It is numbers.

It's the same fricking reason they have more inamtes. More people, more inmates.

I bet they have more people that drive too.

They have more fricking people.
It really is that simple.

Why do they have more people drafted from Houston than say Odessa? Football is king in both places. Why is Houston that much better or do they just have more players to choose from?

Why would those kids not want to go to the flagship university that has all the money?

Why would the top recruits from a football crazy state not want to stay in that state in general?

I always hear this, "Texas has all the money." You do realize it has been illegal to pay players for years now right? Texas has a boatload of money in a state fund, but as far as sports go, they can only use it to build/ improve stadiums and facilities. That doesn't give them any advantage over other rich schools that have nice stadiums and facilities setting in recruiting hotbeds...

No matter what Aggie and OU fans tell you, Texas Boosters have not played the bag game like other schools over the years. At least not to the same extent as other schools. It is pretty evident they haven't because they do not have the network in place to get their NIL program off the ground and running. They had to hire an outside agency to start it up...If they had a big Booster / Bag man network in place already, NIL would not be the pain in the arse for them to set up that it has become..They are way behind other big schools at this point that already have million dollar contracts for players..

Lastly, there are some people in the admin offices at Texas that don't want it to become a football factory and would rather play school...Liberal types that want equality for women's sports, and they do everything they can to keep Texas from becoming a Football factory..

Ok so let's look at California. Huge state, nice players. Yet, there's never been an in-state player from Fresno St, SJSU, SDSU or USD, to ever win sh!t. Why? Because quantity doesn't always mean quality.

No FL guy from USF/UCF/FAU/FIU is winning sh!t anytime soon either...same reason

Yet, Baylor/SMU/TCU/TTU have produced some real NFL legends...Why?
Because of the FOOTBALL CULTURE in TX...Size alone ain't the reason. And I've never said that TXHSFB is the best, once...It's far from overrated tho.

Good. Mahomes and LT were 3-stars. You should really cherish the table scraps that the state of TX leaves for you baws tho...
