For the most part, a head coaches job is to have a certain philosophy that he wants to win by and go get the players and coaches to run it. As time goes by he sees a chink in the armor, he fixes it.

Perhaps not, but isn't this why you have coordinators?
Yep, and that is why the Kiffin hire is so puzzling. You will be seeing bubble screens in your sleep.

Gonna go out on a limb here, and I know it is only January, but this has to be in the running for the "Worst Subject Line Thread of the Year."

Already do, that was Nuss' specialty.
I know at USC Kiffin knew to call the plays that got the ball in his play makers hands quickly.

Shouldn't you win at Alabama though? I mean... historically, it's the greatest program of all time. It's not like he was stepping into USCe or Arkansas. I get the program was down before he arrived, but it doesn't take much to bring a program like Alabama back to relevance.
Yes and No... Coaching at Bama can make a coach appear to be better than what he really is(ie. Shula, Dubose, Franchione). They will have one or two really good seasons but it usually doesn't last. I think part of the reason, is because Alabama can recruit itself. But it takes someone special to be able to handle the unrealistic expectations that we have and to sustain success.
But to answer the OP's question, yes he is an excellent coach. One of the best of all time.

Because if they consistently worked, he would still be at USCw. You can't make that your staple....ask Hal Mumme.

Thanks for giving an educated response.
And again, I started this thread to get a good laugh. Some of you people take this shite too serious. Christ...

Let's wait until he wins something before we call him good.

Oh my God. Is Saban a good coach? I mean what kind of response do you even give the OP here? Dude, Nick Saban shits excellence. He had a down year this year man and we still won 11 games. Moron.
