Is it worth playing Davis against LSU to win by like 21 instead of 14?
IF he's full speed and has undoubtedly kept up his conditioning yes for one simple reason.
He's last season's leading SEC running back, combine him with Dennis Johnson and you have a two headed running nightmare.
Combine it with our other offensive weapons (along with a defense with all it's playmakers back) and pollsters have a reason to move us way up because we will be a more whole team than the one that played in Alabama back in September.
It changes everything and pollsters, you hope, will know that.

Yeah but if we embarrass LSU they will drop below Bama in the BCS and Bama will go to Atlanta. If we play Davis it could make it tougher to keep the game from becoming a blowout.

This actually brings up a great point I had not thought about. If Knile does come back, we ARE a different team, and the two human polls would absolutely take that into consideration for the late season polls. THIS could move us up enough (with 2 more wins mind you) to leapfrog AL so that it would be LSU and AR at top of BCS polls and then the tie breaker would go to AR for the head to head.
Huge long shot, but with Knile Davis on our team....we are a different team. He ran for 1300 yards last year (in the SEC West mind you) and did almost 90% of it in the 2nd half of the season. He did put up 170? against Miss ST and 150? against LSU last year as well.
Just enough to get fans excited, but this is all a very very small fraction of a % from happening too.

You put Knile in that game for his first action of the season against a top 2 defense, burn a redshirt and lose, it will be a huge LOL at Petrino moment.
I hope Arkansas plays him.

Pretty interesting thread, except for the "fact", Knile is not playing...

I don't want him to waste a year of eligibility and potentially re-injuring himself for at most 3 games.
These are the same reasons Tiger fans hope he does play. Don't wish injury on anyone but the liklihood of reagrivating a recent injury against this bunch is better than even.

He has been practicing and getting reps for the last three weeks already. And that isn't a rumor.

Well apparently the Arkansas backs will be the best RB's LSU has faced all year.
Who said that?

Petrino will leave it solely up to the doctors to determine if Knile is ready to practice and/or play.
He doesn't rush that stuff like another coach we all know.
I know he won't endanger Knile for a better chance at beating LSU.

I believe it. Just don't think it would be the smartest move I've seen Petrino make. Certainly hope the young man's football future isn't ended prematurely due to delusions of grandeur. A healthy TR has said it was the hardest pounding he's ever endured. Knile should expect no less if he plays.

Future ended? Please. All he did was break a bone. That bone is now stronger than it was before with a titanium plate in it. It isn't like he is risking greater injury by playing.

Why do you guys keep brining up redshirt? He will be in the 2013 draft
Posted on 11/15/11 at 1:27 pm to sugatowng
It really shouldn't matter to LSU fans if he plays or not. If we want to be National Champs we need to be able to do what we need to do to win the game regardless of who it is.

You know for sure he will be fully recovered and be the exact same player or better?
Thats a pretty large assumption.
