I’m not sure how the new SEC and 12 team playoff will work.

Serious question

If the Sec goes to the two best teams play each other for the SEC championship game

Couldn’t that be LSU and bama

After playing each other in the regular season

Then facing each other again in the 12 team playoff

Unless I don’t understand the process

It seems like this could be a possibility

I think you missed my point

If the possibility exists

It would be pretty cool to beat bama 3 times in one season

Now

Can somebody on this board explain to me if this is even possible?

LSU hasn't beaten Alabama 3 times in a decade and you think they can do it in one season?

We are 2-2 in the last 4 years

But I guess you are still incapable of answering my question

Hopefully a knowledgeable person will reply.

Your favorite team wins a lot of games.

You're just a fricking loser nobody would miss if the meth lab in the trailer next door blew up.

To be clear

I don’t downvote anybody

And I get the schtick

Would you please call George for me and ask him about my question

Thank you, Tide

That's weird.

I didn't know they built meth labs in a 4,000 square foot house.

Guess you're an expert.

Except you literally aren't a winner with those losses, so who are you talking about?

Well, technically yes, but it's pretty unlikely.

If you look at 2011, LSU and Bama almost certainly would have played each other 3 times under the proposed format. I think Bama would have made the SEC championship, both teams obviously would make a 12 team playoff, and I don't think either would lose to anyone else that season.

And when you look at things, there's a decent chance LSU wins the natty, if that happens.

When you look at closely matched teams like that, you don't usually see sweeps in rematches. LSU lost the repeat game to Bama that year.
2017 Auburn loses rematch to UGA in the SEC title game.
2021 Alabama loses rematch to UGA in the natty.
Going back further, Fla State loses the rematch to Florida in 1996.

What happens in the 3rd game... most secrets are figured out by then, but it's a good chance the loser of game 2 will make the necessary adjustments to win game 3, the same way the loser of game 1 has the advantage going into the second game. Once again, the loser has the advantage of preparing for what beat them, while the winner goes in guessing what they will face the next time around. And with teams being so even, that might be all the edge you need.

An amazing analysis

Your details are making my little brain explode

So you’re saying

Yes it’s possible for LSU and bama

To play each other 3 times in a single season?

That was my question

And just one of many unintentional consequences of making major changes

In anything in life
