Not this one. Auburn lost 9 games and Malzahn was hired December of 2012.

I am hoping that, but I am not sure I would assume that.

that's a great guess, but we're gonna have to go just a tad lower...

Hard to imagine Gus wouldn't be a consistent 10 win coach with UGA's schedule. Just saying.

He would still play Georgia and Alabama. Playing 12 games, I guess it is possible he could win 10, but you couldn't have any slip ups.

Ole Miss...but KJ was 75% against LSU from an injury earlier in the season. Ya'll were one of the first teams to experience our O with KJ 100%.

No troll...why does Gus run your RB's into the ground, and why does he not develop depth at RB? RB and QB are the most critical positions in your offense, and two years in a row you have had very promising years derailed by 1 injury to a QB and 1 injury to a RB.

I didn't say a word about where he was coaching. Although he left for Auburn before coaching the bowl game which gave them 10 wins.

You are going to count a record at Arkansas State?
Ok.But, as you admitted, he only coached 9 of those wins.

The OP didn't say anything about his record at Auburn, only Gus. I'm correct.
Regardless, his 'team' has won 10 games in half of his 6 seasons. Not bad.

I would argue that it ceased to be his team when he resigned at Arkansas State, then.

I'm just being difficult.

I don't even want to troll you. You and Higgs are my favorite Auburn posters.

I want to keep a good relationship with you both so we can have good conversations!

I am curious how the rank and file Auburn fans feel about the huge extension given to Gus, though. I mean, it honestly seems like a love/hate relationship, as he is adored for awhile then AU fans scream for his head at times. It's a really strange thing, honestly.

I'll admit that I was done with him after LSU because there didn't seem to be any way he could correct course this season with UGA and Bama on the horizon, but I'll be damned if he stepped-up and did.

I think you know what you get with Gus. He has brought some stability to the program and the team has been pretty disciplined and without scandal for the most part. He's going to have some very good seasons with some mediocre ones sandwiched in between, but I doubt you ever see a trainwreck season like we had with Chizik.

Now with Jacobs being gone, I think there's a little less pressure on him as well.

Given some of the other coaching searches and hires the past two seasons, I'm glad we retained him. Is he worth $7 mil? No, but neither are most of the other coaches in that salary range and he ranks right up there with them in accomplishments.

This could be huge for him. It's tough to coach when you feel like every move you make is under a microscope and your boss is almost secretly hoping you mess up.

If Gus can flip Justin Fields, then he may be worth it.
