quote:I suppose that depends on if he really wanted to leave AU for Arky, which is what numerous media outlets have been reporting.
So along with the pay raise, Auburn is going to guarantee 5 years and a large say in who is named ad?
Do you think that was actually the case, or was it just a matter of a powerful Arky booster demanding that you approach him first just to test the waters? Would his outrageous contract demands indicate that he didn't really want the Arky job unless you gave him massive guarantees and unprecedented power?

Looks like it, radio said Auburn is looking to get rid of him and that Arky is offering to let him choose his AD and involve him in admin decisions.

You people (Auburn fans) wanted him fired a month ago (late October) but he has a good month, two top ranked wins later and he’s about to get all the money, power, job security and years he could have ever wanted.
It’s worked out perfect for him and Sexton.

He was leaving on his own terms if he lost both rivalry games. We don't put up with mediocrity like y'all do. Bert would have gone 3 years ago. Hell, we fired Chizik 2 years after a Natty.

You hawg fans were certain Bert was a much better hire than Malzahn. Now Bert is fired and Gus is heading to his second SEC championship.

We all make mistakes.

And when Georgia wins you’ll want him fired.

quote:Nah. The reason we were ready for him to go in October was that he had consistently failed to put the team in a position to win the big games since 2013.
And when Georgia wins you’ll want him fired.
He just beat both of our biggest rivals convincingly, when they were each ranked #1 in the country. Losing to one of them in a rematch would be bitterly disappointing, but wouldnt change the fact that he's proven he can line up and beat the best. And do so without "miracles" or "flukes".
I think we'll give him a fair evaluation following the season, win or lose this weekend.

I don't know about the AD part, but Gus has three years still left on his last guaranteed contract. I am sure he will have years added to that and a salary bump.

He has finally learned from his mistakes and learned not to be so uptight and trust in his OC and the talent on the field, which the last several games has proven is elite.

THis was all a Sexton ruse to get GM more money....
It worked. He will stay at Auburn and I am so very thankful. You can see this in the majority of my posts on the Hog board, and on the Rant. I don't want him as our HC, Never have... If it happens, I would still go to games, donate, and purchase tix..
But I would rather have several more coaches prior to that happening.
Congrats on the win, I hope you beat Ga gOOD LUCK!

What other coaches do you want that compare to Gus' HC resume? Even if it is only 7 years in the making.
The point I would be getting to is it's a personal non-football reason for most Arkansas fans because Gus Malzahn's ability to win games, recruit, play for and win championship(s) is not debatable. He will only improve with experience.
