Because it takes time to learn on the job as a college head coach.

While I agree, I found this interesting: every SEC coach since 2000 with a National title won one within 3 years at his school, with the exception of saban taking 4 yrs at LSU.

SEC NC's since 2000

03. LSU. Saban. 4th yr
06. UF. Meyer. 2nd yr
07. LSU. Miles. 3rd yr
08. UF. Meyer. 4th yr
09. UA. Saban 3rd yr
10. AU. Chizik 2nd yr
11. UA. Saban. 5th yr
12. UA. Saban. 6th yr
13*. AU. Malzan 1st yr
^ last SEC NC appearance

It seems like you either have it or you don't. Every NC teams coach won one within 4 years of being hired at their respective school. Its almost seems like the coaches plateau or even lose the edge over time. You know what you have early.

Ex:
- bama is not quite where they were
In 2009-2012 right now (maybe)
- when is the last time richt won the
SEC, 05?
- chizik flashed then burned
- Malzan flashed and is burning
- Meyer was losing control after 09
- miles' best stretch was his first 3
Years, though 10-13 was close

And by the way all of these teams except LSU with miles were coming off garbage season which caused their coach to be fired.

Just something I found interesting, obviously doesn't change what freeze will or won't accomplish. Historically this is his window to do it I guess

Yeah those numbers certainly aren't with Freeze, I'll agree on that

While those coaches may have been relieving less successful coaches (sans Miles taking over for Saban), the cupboards weren't barren. Zook could recruit, Tuberville could recruit, etc. The reason Saban didn't win until Year Four may have been in part to the fact he had to build LSU back up to what it was after a rough 1990s in Baton Rouge.

What Houston Nutt left for Freeze was pretty bad. There was no discipline in the program as almost the entire roster was at risk of failing out of school and it wasn't like they were talented players, either. It was a shitshow of a program. We lost to Louisiana Tech, got massacred by Alabama and LSU, etc. the year before (2-10).

Now you look at where Ole Miss is, the 2015 Rebel team would beat the 2011 team by 50, meanwhile the 2011 team would be busy beating up people at bars instead. Hopefully Freeze can keep the upward trajectory going.

Freeze isn't even the new Gus Malzahn, let alone the new Les Miles, let alone the new Saban.

He's had the one outstanding recruiting class & has apparently dodged a major NCAA investigation into that one. Let's see how the Black Bears do back to back to back the next several seasons before giving him any title suggesting he's the best.
