Foley won't play around plus way too much talent in state to stay down for long. Muschamp needs a good OC

No, Florida will never enter a Tennessee-like decline. If any school in the SEC can halt a decline, it's UF. UT doesn't have the recruiting hotbed.

He's got one. UF might not be world-beaters this year, but I expect at least 9 wins from them, and they're my pick for the SEC East.

Yeah it seems like everyone is assuming Roper will work out great because it's Florida and they have a good program. I just think he's being asked to do too much. Plus Muschamp's head is on the chopping block. If the offense sputters, I can imagine him taking the reigns from Roper and screwing up the whole thing.

People assume Roper will work out because Driskel is finally playing in an offense that fits him.
You will be able to tell really quickly how UF's O is going to look. UF hasn't beaten a single team like a drum who is inferior to them in 2 years. If UF doesn't score 40 in the first game, I expect another shite offense.

Way too much talent in state for Fla to have a Tenn, type decline. Tenn must steal talent from neighboring states in order to be successful.
Fla may turn into a 8-9 win team though unless they turn things around

You should learn all about our decline after Muschamp hands Mizzou their azz in the Swamp, please post afterwards. 11-1 just 2 yrs ago? What decline?
Gators are mad bro...Tyler Murphy, our second string QB couldn't even lift his arm above his shoulder without lots of pain meds against Mizzou last year....LSU roughed him up the week before..he shouldn't have even been on the field. Not saying that caused us to lose game...not hardly, we had many other injuries and Mizzou played like a house o fire.
SEC is in trouble...no more 2nd and 3rd string QBs and our offense will be a LOT more potent.

You have to wonder how Roper will do away from David Cutcliffe too. I can't imagine he ever had complete control of the Duke offense.
This.

Yes. FSU's catapult to the top will make it even worse for UF. FSU runs that state now and they aren't going away for a while. Down period lasts for a while and it's UF's turn.

FSU had a decade of mediocrity just recently.

any team can go through a long decline, even the USC's and Texas' of the world. That said I don't think we can say that about Florida just yet. If Boom can't turn it around and the next guy is also a stinker then maybe we can revisit this though.

Look at FSU in the 2000's. They were mediocre for a few years but they are back now.
Few programs with the resources and location of a Florida will be down for long.
And jesus christ the memories on this board are short. UF was a few plays away from an undefeated regular season and a national title appearance in 2012. One bad season does not equal the end of all things. Just ask Auburn.
Tennessee hasn't been anywhere close to that for more than a decade. It's not even apples and oranges... it's like apples and hand grenades.

With a new coach.

It took Jimbo Fisher 4 years to turn things around and he never had to face a schedule or injury situation of 2013 Florida.
Even with the injuries, UF would have won 7 or 8 games with FSU's schedule last year. On the flip side, FSU would have definitely dropped a few games last year had they played UF's schedule.

I've seen no evidence to assume he didn't. Every replay of a Duke game I've watched, to see what we can expect from Roper, had Cutcliffe standing 10+ yards away with his arms crossed watching the plays...and Roper running the O.

The last four seasons of Phil Fulmer (2005-08) in Knoxville that began the decade long malaise, saw Tennessee go 17-15 in conference and 29-21 overall.
This was followed by a series of poor hires that may only be ending now with Butch Jones.
The last four seasons in Gainesville, starting with Urban Meyer's burnout through the Bill Muschamp era, the Gators have gone 17-15 in conference and 30-21 overall.
Is the Gator decline beginning, ending, or in mid-stream?
I don't know about a decline but I do think this is it for Boom. Hasn't shown he could field an offense since hes been there. This latest hire was a huge one and lets face it, he couldn't get who he wanted. The win with defense philosophy just doesn't fit the Florida mold.

No. If Boom doesn't get it done this season, he's probably gone. They will get someone else who can recruit the state and get it done.
