This one hit wonder stuff is just a weak flame. Everyone with a brain that has been paying attention for more than 3 years knows AU has been one of the winningest SEC teams since the expansion.
Like every single other good team in the SEC, they are going to have some down years sprinkled in. Next year has a good chance to be one of those.

We had one very bad year in 2008 and all of a sudden we have always sucked.

We had one of the top recruiting classes last year. This year, we are # 25.
We only have 13 commits so far. 13 is less than any team ahead of us, most teams have 19 or more so just hang in there and see where we are on signing day.

7 years.

6)2009
7)2010***
That's 7 years. Not 6.
That's 7 seasons not years. Had he said 6 seasons he would have been incorrect, however he said "6 YEARS"

Auburn will be, what Auburn has been. Auburn one championship/50 years. Bama will get
1Championship/10-15 years. I love Auburn as a state school.. but at the end of the day, it is what it is-- The other school from Alabama. Will they beat BAMA?.. yeah, sometimes. But they will never be THE STATE SCHOOL FROM ALABAMA.. Ask Boone Pickens. Ask Texas Tech. Ask Texas A&M. Ask Vanderbilt.. Etc.. Etc.. I will celebrates this win with Auburn as a state school.. However, I wont buy the T-shirt. Lots of other Bama fans are like me.. (They just dont say it.) My true rival is TENNESSEE. (2nd best program in the SEC)

Would Auburn even be in a bowl without Newton this year?
C'mon. There are 35 bowl games now. Any team that manages to scrape together 6 wins is going bowling, and keep in mind you can typically chalk up 4 wins before the season even starts unless you are Vandy.
Last year, Auburn - with no Cam and a new coaching staff - won the Outback bowl. And we had a LOT of problems to fix heading into last season.
If Auburn wins the NC this year, then they will have WON - not just played in but WON - every single bowl an SEC team can play in during the past 15 years, with the exception of the Gator Bowl which was added this year and that crappy Birmingham bowl which was added a few years ago.
Think about that. In a relatively short window, we will have WON the BCS, Sugar, Citrus (Cap One), Cotton, Outback, Peach, Independence, Music City, etc...
What other school can claim that?

I know it's not my business, but I wish Auburn would adopt War Eagle and drop the tiger. That damn eagle at the start of home games is f;;;in awesome. I don't get the need to hold on to something so over used in sports as "tigers". But, War Eagle... that's damn good

puntbamapunt, if you would have bothered to read the beginning, I said that this has nothing to do with the past, but the future. 2004 is considered by every single person as the past. Ross, I agree with you about next year. I think that the 2 big things that could hurt them are not finding a good replacement for when ya'll do lose Malzahn, and sadly, you will, and if anything is found to hurt Auburn in the whole cam thing.
Your explaining this to a guy who's name is PuntBamaPunt. You think he's living in the past jst a tad?

Thats very true. Its also very narrow minded. Its like Tennessee being the winningest program since 1926.. Depends where u slice it.

Is Tennessee the winningest program since 1926?
If so that's damn impressive!

quote:Fair enough, but then the question makes no sense. You can't say "one hit wonder" and then exclude all of the teams/persons hits that they already have. Also, looking to the past is an indication of what might happen in the future. A long track record of being a successful team indicates that the team will continue to be successful.

That Auburn, is not a one hit wonder.. but a two hit wonder. Auburn, as a school from Alabama, I will be pulling for them in Glendale. Sorry that bothers you.

4 or 5 loss team probably.
I know Bama and LSU can't wait to beat the every-living crap out of Auburn.

I cant go back to high school for you. History of college football didnt start in 1926 did it? What made 1926 special?
Im proud Auburn will represent our state in Glendale. I hope they bring back a championship to Alabama again. Then, I hope University of Alabama makes it 3 in a row. I did not realize how sensitive Auburn fans are. Especially, with someone who doesnt have a Oregon Avatar next to my name. I guess I should start talkin bs about Auburn..
