Interesting concept. Surprised no one’s done this before.

re: LSU vs Texas A&M Tailgate

What is the tailgate situation like? It'll be our first game at Tiger Stadium

I'm curious to see the on-campus tailgating turnout as well. Traditionally, the game after Thanksgiving (either Friday or Saturday) has a lower tailgating turnout, but with the successful season and a high desire to beat Texas A&M soundly after last year's OT fiasco, there should be plenty of folks on campus eager to absorb the final home game of the regular season.

1. Traffic can be worse than you think, so I'd get to campus as early as possible. For a 6:00pm game, I'd suggest as early as 11am to noon. This will allow you to wander around campus, see a few tailgates, Mike the Tiger, the band marching down the hill, and get inside the stadium early enough to experience all the pregame festivities. Grabbing lunch at either Walk On's or Chimes is also a good option.

2. Incorporate something into your outfit to denote you're from out of town. Whether it's a college or pro team, LSU fans love when football fans from around the country travel just to experience an LSU game day.

3. It's a veteran move to BYOB. LSU fans will certainly feed you if you're polite, introduce yourself and strike up a conversation, but generosity only extends so far. Don't be a mooch and bring your own booze.

4. For this game especially, know the basics of the 7OT debacle from last year in College Station. A simple, "We got screwed by the refs" line will quickly endear you to other tailgaters.

How big is your group? How old are you? Some of that can play a factor in what you look for on a game day.
A few good options for Friday night bar hopping:

Bogies - fratty, college bar near campus

Downtown - 3rd street, several bars to choose from - Happy's is always a good time.

Overpass area on Perkins road - Grab Zippy's for dinner & Overpass Merchant, Ivar's for drinks. Duvic's if you enjoy martinis and a lowkey, smoky atmosphere.

You're bound to have a good time at any of these options.
Advice:

1. I'd get to campus as early as possible. For an 8:00pm game, I'd suggest as early as 11am to noon. This will allow you to wander around campus, see a few tailgates, Mike the Tiger, the band marching down the hill, and get inside the stadium early enough to experience all the pregame festivities. As others have mentioned, grabbing lunch (and some A/C) at either Walk On's or Chimes is also a good option.

2. Wear an outfit to denote you're from out of town (just not Ole Miss apparel).

If LSU fails to sign some of the final targets (specifically Kelvin Joseph) is Aaron Brule (Rummel S, OLB) in play? Or would ArDarius Washington likely fill Joseph's spot?

Brule recently decommitted from UGA.

1st Time at LSU Tailgate

Advice:

1. I'd get to campus as early as possible. For a 2:30pm game, I'd suggest as early as 8am, but certainly before 10am. This will allow you to wander around campus, see a few tailgates, Mike the Tiger, the band marching down the hill, and get inside the stadium early enough to experience all the pregame festivities.

2. Wear an outfit to denote you're from out of town (just not Auburn apparel).

Week 10 CFB Schedule

Very unlikely LSU @ Bama gets Gameday. It will be Oklahoma @ Ok. State, but other possible Gameday sites include:

-Clemson @ NC State
- Penn St. @ Michigan St.
- Stanford @ Washington
- Va Tech @ Miami

LSU lost by 30 to Miss State & lost to Troy. They shouldn't be part of Gameday this season.

Just a reminder Lindsey Scott was 4th on QB depth chart

JUCO brah. Get. Over. It. He's obviously worse than Etling, Brennan, Narcisse etc. or else he would still be on the team.

Anybody know where the LSU crowd hangs out in Gaineville?

It's a trap!

It's a very forgettable place for tailgating, and I was disappointed by the environment inside the Swamp, but if I lived in Florida and couldn't make it to any other LSU games during the season, I'd return. Also, Satchel's pizza is pretty good (but sadly not near campus/stadium).

Only thing I don't understand is why you can't have a tablecloth? Lol

Tablecloths could assist in hiding common-alcohol sources...my only guess.
Sure hope it ends up being a night game so you can get the full Death Valley experience.

Some bars/restaurants to check out near LSU or downtown:
-Chimes
-Walk-On's
-Pastime
-Fred's (bar)
-Bogies (bar)
-Third Street (downtown street full of bars)
All the time.

I'll casually ask folks about tickets throughout my day tailgating, then about an hour before game time, if I don't have a ticket yet, I head near the stadium to snag one. Only been shut-out once, and that was at an Iron Bowl one year.
Gathering data for a research project - any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Where do you get your sports news from?

Is it primarily from TigerDroppings, Twitter, Facebook, sports blogs or something else?

Do sports fans use television & sports talk radio for news anymore or just commentary & reaction on the day's events?

What's your favorite source for sports commentary: ESPN, FS1, sports talk radio, XM radio, podcasts, other?

Brian's Song - always a tearjerker, even now

Only thing I ever heard was on the radio, they said he left for another business adventure. I thought it was kind of strange how they worded it.

Can anyone elaborate?
