Lost to Nebraska? You mean one of the greatest teams in CFB history? Florida State? You mean a Bowden led three headed monster? And he gave those guys their fair share of licks as well. Spurrier coached at a time when there were several elite coaches in the game. Unlike Saban.....

Good god

Guess he didn't know that his beloved Dooley had a losing record to FSU as well.

Spurrier also had a better win % against teams that finished ranked (40%) only counting his tenure at USC in comparison to Dooley overall (39.5%). Game over, man. Game over.

What are you talking about? In Saban's second year at Alabama, there were six head coaches in the conference (not including Saban) who had won SEC titles, and four (again not including Saban) who had won national titles.

When Spurrier left the SEC at the end of the 2001 season, there were only two coaches left in the conference who had won an SEC championship (Fulmer and Saban). And it's not like he ran everyone else off. Stallings and Majors (another Tennessee head coach) were the only other two coaches besides Spurrier and Fulmer to win the conference in the 1990s.

You're doing nothing but proving my point. The differences between them are marginal at best. What puts Dooley over the top is the fact that he won more games and, unlike Spurrier, coached his team to an undefeated season in which he didn't need a mulligan (or the opposing team to come down with the flu) to win it all.

Damn Korin, did Dooley frick your sister or something? The other poster simply mentioned he might rank Dooley over Spurrier and you have been triggered ever since. I'm not sure I would put Dooley over him myself but I ain't going to stalk no one over it.

I still think Spurrier is the most overrated coach ever.

I don't. I mean he dominated the SEC for almost a decade. He changed how everyone had to recruit (and play) defense. He did what Saban is doing (everyone having to change how they do things to compete).

FSU ruined his NC chances more than once, though. And he lost to Bama a couple times in the SECCG.

his program's height in the mid-90s, there were essentially only three teams in the SEC that were worth a damn: Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama.

His teams ran roughshod through the SEC but frequently lost to the Florida States and Nebraskas of the world

Auburn was worth a damn in the mid 90s and Spurrier didn't run roughshod over AU in the mid 90s.

1993 - 11-0, beat Florida
1994 - 9-1-1, beat Florida
1995 - 8-4, lost to Florida
1996 - 8-4, lost to Florida
1997 - 10-3, lost to Florida

Mid 90's, AU 46-12-1, 2 and 3 vs FL. And of the 5 games, 1996 at Florida was the only one of those 5 games that wasn't close.

Also AU was 3-2 against Bama in the mid 90s. Don't think we played Tenn.

More Alabama hypocrisy. Yay!

Thought this one was cool..

1931 Rose Bowl The 17th edition of the Rose Bowl Game saw an unbeaten Alabama squad dominate Washington State to the tune of a 24-0 shutout victory. The Crimson Tide defense allowed just 13 points over the course of the entire 1930 season.

Strange they didn't include something from the 1926 Rose Bowl when y'all beat Washington. That did a lot for southern football.
