He was lobbying to play in the BCSNCG even though he wouldn't have won his division or Conference.

https://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/14301230/miles-topranked-sec-team-deserves-title-shot

Alluding to the SEC's four-year streak of producing college football's national champion, Miles added, "Certainly I'm prejudiced, but the reality of it is, I don't know that there's a finer, more competitive conference in America."

Currently, LSU is the top-ranked one-loss team in the country, with games remaining this Saturday against Mississippi (4-6) and at No. 13 Arkansas (8-2) on Nov. 27. Should the Tigers win out, they would go 11-1 in a regular season for the first time since 2003, when they won a national championship.

Miles went on to predict that the SEC's recent dominance of college football "at some point in time will be very significant when it comes to picking who plays in the [BCS title] game."

Miles said in an interview last night that he thought the BCS got it right which is consistent with his thoughts from last year.

Also, our loss to Auburn last year was on the road.

What's the point here? The best two teams are playing. Bring it on.

BATON ROUGE, La. -- The possibility of LSU playing for a national championship doesn't seem all that far-fetched to coach Les Miles, even if the fifth-ranked Tigers have no chance of winning their own league.

Great find. LSU and AU fans pulled out an alleged statement from Saban in 2003 (ESPN says he never said it), but you have brought the goods here.

Props to Miles though. In spite of his fans crying about the rematch, he has been first class about it. I'm a big Miles fan.

I thought alot about that after Bama backed in this year......

Had we beaten Arkansas last year, I'm not sure we wouldn't have been arguing to get in the same way y'all did this year, and it would have been a solid arguement. Obviously, we didn't beat Arky, and other teams took care of thier business, but still, just sayin....

Also, our loss to Aubie was on the road. Was actually a "better loss" that y'alls.

Bottom line is the 2012 game situation probably came dangerously close to happening in 2011.

What miles said is consistent between last year and this year!!!

What rantards on this board say is inconsistent!!!

Trying to blend these thoughts as one tiger nation thought = FAIL

Absolutely. Miles is a first class guy. I think the point of the OP was that the LSU fans don't agree with their coach. All we hear is how Bama doesn't deserve to be there because they didnt win their conference. Not hard to understand unless you think everything purple and gold is perfect.

What do you want a link to? That AU and LSU fans talked about it incessantly or that ESPN said it wasn't true?

Maybe you could post a link to where Saban said what was alleged. That is usually the way it works. The one making allegations proves it.

He was right, but Bama had it's shot at the SEC's best in it's own house and failed.

The situation that Miles was lobbying for is quite different than the one that the Tide were in this season. Miles wasn't saying that if LSU ran the table that they deserved another shot at Auburn. He was saying that if Auburn lost a game then LSU should be considered for a spot in the BCSNCG. If LSU had lost a game this season this article would relate a lot better.

Dude - your tinfoil hat is on way to frickiing tight. No one cares what Saban said or didn't say. It makes no difference. The teams are playing and that's it.

Did you see Miles last night on the ESPN interview. He said he was talking about a rematch immediately after the 11/5 game.

Here's one thing Saban did say in that situation in 2003 when LSU edged out USC for 2nd place.

"I don't think anyone will know who the legitimate national champion is unless all three teams in consideration get the opportunity to play one another," LSU coach Nick Saban said.

Does that sound like what has been alleged? Certainly not.

Here's the link...

Your turn: Show me the link where he said a non-conference champion should not play for it.

He was lobbying to get in IF certain teams wound up losing. (like OSU, Stanford, Boise, Oregon, etc.)

Here's another link that it was a fake quote, from Oklahoma of all places.

Satisfied yet or you want to cling to what your AU brethren keep saying and can't prove?
