The real shame of it all is Memphis who lost to UAB would make the playoffs if they were held today.
I think there should be an clause where a undefeated G5 team can make the playoffs. But a G5 team with a loss shouldnt get a pity spot.

Choosing to play for bama is proof of retardation
LSU had Les Miles and Ed Orgeron. One guy had the worst clock management skills of all time and loved eating grass, and the other guy, well, no one could understand a single word he said. And that's not even mentioning Brian Kelly, who had the worst southern accent ever and was basically dry humping recruits.

I’ll agree with you 100% on that one. I get the equal opportunity appeal of the 12-team playoff, but are you really wanting the best in there or are you wanting to cupcake up the playoffs?

O is a retard for having a midlife crisis post-divorce, Miles just wasnt built for modern football

I dont like when undefeated teams dont get a shot at the natty. Its happened even to bigger name schools like PSU and Auburn.
Thats why I like the idea of a expanded playoff, theres been some good G5 teams over the past 20 years (utah, TCU, Boise st). I just think its retarded to call someone a national champion when there are other undefeated teams.
A G5 team that isnt dominant though has no business in the playoffs. I think USF will likely end up with the spot this year, and they are probably a top 30-35 team at best. Loss to Miami might have even been acceptable if they took care of business the rest of the way, but they didnt

The SEC went to 9 games with the promise that the CFP would take into account strength of schedule and strength of record.
The initial explanation of the top group placement focused on claiming that Indiana and Ohio State have better defensive statistics.
Of course they are going to have better stats because most of the conference teams that they play against are cupcakes.
The CFP is going to tell a typical 9-3 SEC team..... "Good luck in your bowl game!"
