One year, he had a team with no left handed pitchers...
Another year, he had a team with a cleanup hitter that stood an imposing 5'6"...
Another year, he lost a Super Regional to Stony Brook....
To top it off, he lost ANOTHER Super Regional to baseball powerhouse, Coastal Carolina....
LOL

Yeah, his first three years were average to great, culminating in a CWS title....
Then, he went Ed Orgeron at LSU before Ed Oregeron ever stepped on campus at LSU.

Who would win:
South Carolina or the Colorado Rockies?

No he didn’t. He was a national top 8 seed 6 years in a row from 2012-2017 and had a CWS runner-up finish. He got old. It happens to everyone. South Carolina never should have hired a guy who said he didn’t have the drive anymore 4 years ago.
I don’t know why LSU fans want to compare every coach to Ed Orgeron or Les Miles. Mainieri produced consistently elite teams for a decade. That’s not easy to do. He also took Notre Dame to Omaha. He’s one of the winningest coaches in the sport’s history. Ed Orgeron, yeah no

Our AD at the time Tanner....retired from coaching baseball after many years....had announced he was retiring from the AD position after many years....and yet.....hired a guy older than him to coach the baseball team. What could go wrong???? Everything....that's what. Young up and coming coaches all over the place and this is the best Tanner could do??? Then tie Monte Lee who was fired from clemsux to a 1.1 million contract was absolutely idiotic icing on the idiotic cake. Geez....
