One of the guys had an old Tecmo Bowl game and we played it with them.

The kids had an education in just what Bo knows real quick. It was fun watching them pick everyone but the Raiders to play me.

And people pre-disposed to this kind of thing are also likely to be negatively affected by social media. Kids today grow up texting, tweeting, Facebooking, gaming - and all of these replace personal interactions. Kids that are balanced enhance their personal relationships and friendships with social media. But kids who aren't focus on social media and ironically become more isolated from people. So, they don't learn social and interpersonal skills, or coping mechanisms, like most. Just my opinion. Nothing can replace good old-fashioned friends, like the ones I had dinner with tonight.

It's just another vehicle for social issues we had even before social media though. You're still going to have kids who are withdrawn and things like that even without that social media. Bullying and all those things were there before we had Facebook and the like. A well-adjusted kid is going to still have interactions with people at places like school and still develop socially.

It's a lot of the same issues we've had for years. Some of the factors around them might have changed (like social media) but the root causes are still the same IMO (psychological issues that often go unaddressed for a variety of reasons).

Personally I think the largest issue is the one that will never get addressed because topics such as gun control and violence in media (i.e. games, movies/tv, etc) are sexier then addressing how we diagnose, handle, and respond to those with psychological issues in this country.

This is a completely controversial question to even discuss, but should we just go back to lobotomizing every person who is mentally "not right"?

I don't know about that, but we should institutionalize far more people than we do.

Where do you put them? How will it be paid for? Psychological services are often the first to be cut in budget cuts. Facilities are often shut down, in disrepair, or have large waiting lists. Especially for children and young adults. I see this brought up all the time but nobody is willing to foot the bill. People with significant psychological issues often do not have the means to afford treatment.

And are we accurately diagnosing these issue to begin with?

It would have to be extremely regulated and kept in check. But yes, there are tons of people on the streets that have no business not being in an institution.
