Most of what Straws said is spot on, however he is wrong about Miss State’s facilities, most (if not all) that were built under Scott Stricklin when he was the AD there.

But how does that stack against the rest of the SEC? Kentucky's football facilities are incredible, LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn and Texas A&M all have invested in their facilities head and shoulders above MSU.

Academics they're in the lower tier.

Facilities wise they're behind the rest of the west.

Football prestige, won the SEC in 1941, won the West in 1998.

Since 1991, they have two ten win seasons. One by Mullen, one by Sherril. (Florida had two in 2015 and 2016* FCS Cancelled game.)

Since 1991, they've had two 9 win seasons -- both by Mullen.

Since 1991, they've been to 14 bowls, Mullen is responsible for 8 of them.

So you have no academics, your facilities are behind the rest of the West, or maybe on par if you're lucky, you have no football prestige other than what Mullen built, the state can't compare to Texas, Arkansas, maybe Alabama but it can be nice, Louisiana. City is, for a lack of a better word, podunk.

Not many coaches would succeed out there, and saying Mullen was holding MSU back is kind of hilarious.

(Totally agree, ATL, just thought I would change my previous idea about the facilities.)

I’d say he’ll definitely improve the team but until the recruiting gets better he’ll be behind UGA

So the facilities at Florida will be nicer than what the resources at Miss State we’re capable of & all of the prestige and tradition at Florida are far superior to Miss State. And now Florida has the coach who did the impossible, something nobody else had done there, win 8-10 games a year at a school with zero football tradition. I think you guys are jaded and blind if you think Mullen won’t be able to exceed his accomplishments from Miss State at Florida. And exceeding those accomplishments means SEC Championships. He’s already had a higher ranked recruiting class in his transition year than he had in any season in his entire tenure inStarkville. That should tell you everything you need to know about the “Mullen can’t recruit” myth. It’s not that Mullen can’t recruit, it’s that Mississippi state cant recruit.

Mullen's first class at Florida, may be comparable to his first at MSU, but I doubt it. His first class at MSU produced about 10 NFL players. We'll see how that turns out in a few years. But it was also a transition year for us, as was this year. Can't recruit at MSU is a myth.

He had his highest ranked recruiting class ever at Florida with 19 players (excluding a 5* and 4* receiver transfer duo) off of a non-bowling season.

Let that sink in. He had 9 years at MSU, and not a single year holds a candle to Florida on a serious low with six scholarships *potentially seven* to spare.

Mullen's first class at State will likely be better than his first at Florida, in given time. These guys haven't played big boy football yet

Based on what? Mullen's first class at Florida has 4 receivers that outclass Mississippi State's best receiver as recruits. That's just one example.
