It's not NIL that's the problem, it's the damn wide open transfer portal. Sit a year, every time, no questions asked. Make as much as you want, but college football will never be related to college again until they reform the portal.

Came here to say this. Got no problem with kids finally getting their slice of the billion dollar pie, but this Wild West transfer shite has got to be reined in. It’s unsustainable. The NFL has trade deadlines, contracts and rules that both sides have to follow. Need something similar.

that's the biggest lie I have ever heard

They literally lack the power and authority to prevent anyone from signing a NIL.

They aren't a government organization.

This NIL stuff really isnt about those kinds of deals. These are flat out pay for play from alums, like the nfl, but with zero limitations, unlike the nfl.

I’m a FAIR Free market guy. IOW, I believe in the free market alright, but I also believe in those competing in the free market playing on a somewhat even playing field so that the free market works best for those within the market, in this case the fans.

There have to be some basic guidelines and rules so that your free market doesn’t become a complete monopoly market. Come to think about it, maybe we should consider placing tariffs on certain schools in order to achieve a more fair free market.

The levels of stupidity in this take...

So if the NIL is free market what toddler level understanding of an economic system do you claim it was before?

Were students ever forced to attend a certain college? Were they ever forced to play a certain position? Were they forced to work the fields for the party then required to put on pads? Was it Fabian Socialism?

One could say it is a fascist system with the influence of corporations like your pedophile ESPN.

The issue is as humans we are never satisfied, and we always want more and more...we want an entire season of a tv show in one night, we want it without commercials, and expect to get a free vacation day after binge watching all night.

It is not the "free market" that is the issue, it is the arrested development of adult children who lack any discipline which subsidizes this NCAA football market.

Sugar is not evil just because too many lazy, fat fvcks can't stop abusing it....

I disrespect any fan who gives money to a collective. There is no way I am paying a penny to the Classic City Collective so UGA has a better chance at a NC. LOL, they could go 2-10 every year and wouldn’t ever see a penny from me. Who is a big enough sucker to give their earnings to pay college football players? Whose identity is so caught up in a schools win-loss record that they give away their own earnings? It is really pathetic.

There’s no such law.

Impose caps and create a sane system. If you don’t, watch college football become totally irrelevant in sports entertainment.

As an economics major and career finance professional, I am not a free market guy.

The free market is what 20 year finance majors idolize before they get a dose of reality. You soon realize why the government exists and why we have regulations. They weren’t made for the hell of it.

Violation of NCAA rules. If you have proof, email them to the NCAA compliance.

you cannot cap how much someone can make for their NIL.

The NFL does not cap player endorsement deals.

The NHL does not cap player endorsement deals.

The NBA does not cap player endorsement deals.

once again......people still have a fundamental misunderstanding of what NIL is.

if ABC University Boosters Anonymous wants to pay a kid $20 million a frickin month, I'm happy for the kid. Pull his entire extended family out of poverty.

Awesome

And anyone who is not financially able to help fund that, but they still DO help fund that with their own money, have at it!

The football collective forced me to give away my kid's lunch money to football players so that the football players could low ride to the strip club!
