Vandy. No other school is close in the SEC re: academics.

i wasn't speaking solely on academics, so not as many as youd think. i would want my child to go to a big school with fun athletics to cheer for and plenty of partying as well as a good education.

i don't know much about acc schools at all, but id assume unc, virginia, VT, and maybe even GT and Duke would fit that bill. the acc is surely superior academically.

I would want him/her to go wherever he felt the most comfortable and get the best education possible.
Of course I would be pushing for LSU because its close to home, has good academics, awesome campus and could enjoy Death Valley and The Box.

However, if he/she goes somewhere else they are tigerbait on game day!

seems that Vandy is the clear #1 of the SEC.

annual tuition:
Vandy-37,005
Georgia-24,280
SCocks-22,908
Florida-20,622
Ten-18,086
Bama-18,000
Auburn-17,640
UK-15,769
Ark-13,888
Miss state-12,503
OleMis-12,468
LSU-11,929

If he/she doesn't get the scholarship, is your child worth the price difference?

which ACC schools would you put ahead of these 3?

I would only put UVA and maybe Duke over Vanderbilt.

which school would you want it to be? And why?

Please explain in you answer how it would benefit your child and not the ego of his/her parent.

What is my child getting the scholarship for? Athletics? Education? is it a state scholarship like TOPS? I need more information before I can give a answer.

I'm not sure as to the importance of this variable.

It's your child's future, you can't assume that one athletic program will help them turn pro afterwards. The end result should be which university a degree from would be more beneficial to your child.

However depending on athletic scholarship (since not all of them are full rides) it may change variables such as money I would have to pay.

Are we talking full ride athletic scholarship to any SEC school. Then what would my kid major in, what are my kids interest, do I get to pick these or will you tell me what they are.
How much money am I making?
How many kids do I have?

I need more variables to work with for this hypothetical to work for me.

Well it is a hypothetical and I need to know everything. I do not wanna make wild assumptions without knowing what I have.
What if I say I want my kid in Vandy but only make enough for an LSU education?

borrow and invest in your child's future? Or is he/she just not worth the extra effort?

lemme tell you something, the less effort you put in, the faster they will be back living under your roof just after college....and you'll have to pay then as well.

SOUTHERN COLLEGES STARTING MEDIAN SALARY MID-CAREER MEDIAN SALARY
Vanderbilt University $51,800 $100,000
University of Florida (UF) $47,300 $88,400
Auburn University $46,600 $87,900
University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa $40,800 $84,300
Louisiana State University (LSU) $47,200 $84,100
University of Georgia (UGA) $43,900 $81,500
University of Arkansas $43,300 $81,100
Mississippi State University (MSU) $44,200 $80,600
University of Kentucky (UK) $41,400 $78,400
University of Mississippi $41,800 $78,000
University of Tennessee $43,800 $75,000
University of South Carolina $40,200 $71,800

Georgia and South Carolina look like the biggests rip-offs. LSU is way under valued.

only issue I have is Graduation rates, I know LSU is low

How hard did they work in high school?
What social standing did they have in school?
Do they study often?
How many kids do I have?
What is my kids major?
What is scholarship in?
What type of work am I doing? If I am working at McDonald's then I could not afford Vandy or other SEC schools.

Well, I'm on full scholarship to Alabama, and I got offered a full scholarship to other SEC schools, so I chose Alabama.

If I could choose any SEC school, it'd obviously be Vanderbilt, as it has the best academic reputation and Nashville is a cool city. But Vanderbilt is very stingy with scholarship and basically doesn't even give full rides. I have a few friends on full scholarship at Duke who couldn't get more than a half scholarship at Vandy. It's ridiculous considering how rich the school is and the family was.
