I wouldn't bring that up, as the argument you are trying to make would make a case for Bama staying ahead of us if we beat Auburn.

It really is a great question, but there is no denying that the South/South East is where the vast majority of good NFL level players come from. As a result, the SEC gets the nod over other teams.
Transitive property does tend to apply on the conference to conference level to some extent. The bottom feeders are always a tossup though.
