I think CDC has someone on the hook that is still playing..
My latest theory leans to O'Sullivan.
I have no inside info.. I'm thinking he fits the profile of a CDC hire and he might be looking for a change of scenery based on his personal life and all that happened since he got remarried.

Considering age, program prestige, etc, I would put him #1 in active coaches
Not saying his career resume would be the best, but he would be #1 to me in terms of who is the “best”

If Vitello wins it all this year, I think there's a pretty good case for him to be considered the best coach in the country - less for overall accolades and more for real time, current program status and trajectory.
What he's done over the last 4 years at Tennessee (if he wins a title) ranks right up there with peak Corbin (2011-2015) and O'Sullivan (2015-2018) at least in terms of 50+-win seasons, 20+-win conference seasons, CWS appearances, etc.

I don't know, but he has taken a historically mediocre to bad baseball program and turned us into consistent winners with teams that are fun to watch.

Vitello clearly has an eye for talent.. when he was at TCU, they had a lot of dudes.. same at Arkansas.. and now, Tennessee.. in the era of the portal, that is going to pay huge dividends..
I think Schloss is really good in this area as well..
Idk if Jay Johnson does or doesn't yet.. he has a huge NIL bucket to get guys like Skenes or Tommy, and those guys are no brainers..
But this is one reason I really like Elander.. it just may be too early for a guy like him.

With or without a NC this year, I think he's one of the top 3 or 4 coaches out there right now.
He's been a HC for 6 or 7 years now? He'll get a NC sooner than later.
He took a program on life support and turned it into a national power in less than 7 years.
He is known as an elite recruiter too.
Yeah, imo, he's one of the best.
