It would be great if the SEC broke into the research triangle!

Man this expansion stuff. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel for 2 more teams... Does anyone get a stiffy about playing V Tech or NC State in ANY SPORT? Nope, two "Meh" programs that haven't done anything.

See how this playoff talk pans out. I hear the B1G and Pac 12 are whining about losing the rose bowl and its holding back playoff talks.

Slive has all these conferences in the palm of his hand. Pac 12 and B1G have all been jokes lately in all sports. Slive is angling at something by even agreeing to talk about playoffs.

Texas is the program that fricked up their conference by being greedy.

Twice. SWC was the same story.

And I think NC State and V-Tech will be the best, most realistic scenario.

ETA: Though I don't think expansion is necessary. SEC won't have to do any "keeping up" once the TV network takes off.

Obviously OU isn't leaving Texas

WRONG. It is OU and OSU that are a package deal. The SEC isn't getting one without the other, both schools have expressly stated they are in it together.

Agree Clemson and FSU. Or Ga Tech.

Not going to happen. Already SEC markets, in-state rivals do not want.

ETA: Not that I think they would be poor additions from a football perspective, at least with regard to FSU and Clemson.

Obviously a NC school would be a good for the SEC.

UNC would be a terrible fit though. It's a liberal arts school.

NC State would be the best fit by far in terms of fan base. But I don't see UNC/Duke/NCSU/Wake breaking up anytime soon.

Really your only option is ECU.

I am for adding two more teams so we get a 4 team pod.

Pod #1 The Legends Div
Bama
AU
UGA
UT

Pod #2 The Golf Shorts Div
Florida
USC
East Carolina
UCF or South Florida

Pod #3 The Hillbilly Div
Vandy
Mizzu
UK
Ark

Pod #4 The Grinders Div
LSU
MSU
ATm
Ole Miss

Play three from your pod every year and two teams from each of the other three pods. That means each team will not have to go more than two years without playing any team in the SEC. JMO, so feel free to flame. I can take it.

I don't want expansion. I want contraction. Kick out South Carolina and Missouri and go back to 12 teams. I hate the idea of a 14 team conference and a 16 team conference would be an even bigger atrocity.

Well, Texas A&M is useful because they bring the Texas market to the table. They also have one of the best athletic departments in the country and are great academically. With all that factored in, aTm might be one of the five most valuable schools in the SEC already. But they do have a very overrated football program. All of the SEC fans that were vouching for aTm because of football, they will end up being very disappointed.

If we can do states where we already have a team. I say Clemson and FSU(or Miami)
quote:

I wouldn't mind Va. Tech but i don't think we get them without UVA (Which really wouldn't be a terrible addition).

I would hate for VT to come in. They have never had any team EVER win a National title(all sports). If it came to that I hope UVA would pull something, if for no other reason than during the ACC expansion when VT was gonna be left out, they had lawmakers force UVA(they did not want VT in the ACC either) to not only vote to include VT, but vote against any expansion that didn't include VT.
I also don't mind the idea of NC st and UVA.
Sorry after living in VA for 12 years I hate all things VA tech
