The logic seems inconsistent. Say you lost your star player in that game technically the committee has said that the playoff game won't hurt you but what about if your star player is now out? They have penalized teams for that.
What I am saying is that the risk versus reward is not proportional and when everyone goes to nine conference games it will be even more disproportional.

BYU was 11th this time yesterday
They were not in over JMU or Tulane
Alabama was also down 2 scores with the ball and 7:30 on the clock
WTF are we talking about?

Tulane won their conference. BYU didn’t.
Winning your conference should and does matter.

No reason to put Tulane in
They are in because of this year's rules. Top 5 ranked conference champions are auto-qualifiers (regardless of conference).

Because the rules they adopted when they went to 12 teams was that 5 conference champions were automatically in , with Duke winning the ACC and not being ranked in the poll it left a vacancy for a conference champion and JMU filled the required 5th spot

AQs for G5 teams need to go or expand the playoffs. That is the answer.
Also, BYU lost to TTU TWICE this season.

It’s the same kind of crap in the NFL. A division can be down one year but a 7-8 team can get in the playoffs for winning a division while another deserving team in another division, with a better record sits at home.
If you play a game, lose the game, you should not be rewarded for it. Bama should have been dropped below the Mendoza line.

Because BYU should not have been 11th to begin with, they know it, anyone with a brain knows it.
People can't separate good records in shite schedules. BYU is 11-1, well they must be good.
No, not really. The question should be; why were they ever ranked 11th to begin with, not why did they drop but Alabama didn't.

Why did the Big12 championship outcome affect BYU?
Because they got screwed. Miami stole their spot. This has nothing to do with Alabama.
