Meet a 4 star recruit sometime. Depending on the kid, they look at coaching, the University education, conference affiliation, depth charts, and how a team is trending.

This fan-base smack is for internet folks. Your fan base literally and repeatedly calls for hogs, despite being inside a multi-million $$$ sports facilities and not on a farm -- but recruits couldn't care less. They see CBP, his offense, playing in the SEC, etc.

This is fricking retarded

A&M's weird culture hurts them vs Texas more than anything else.

aggie will never understand this. Even an overwhelming drought in national titles and top 5 finishes hasn't convinced them that their culture is what kills them - they are impervious to facts.

"If we have an unequal playing field for various schools, that we think is a problem," Loftin said. "That creates uncertainty."

Would Loftin support all FBS schools pooling their football revenue and dividing it equally. Also, the Aggie athletics department got a $16 million interest free loan so that they didn't go belly-up. Does every ath dept get massive loans like this? Doesn't seem fair. Also, why was Loftin OK with Texas, OU and A&M getting more TV revenue than all of the other Big 12-2 schools? How is that fair?

We are top 15 in the country in athletic revenue. Keep pretending we almost went "belly-up"

edit to say we were the 16th most valuable football program two years ago and 18th last year ( LINK). We make between 3.5-4.0 million dollars for every home game. No fear of being bell-up. And that's just football. Let's add a basketball program that has went dancing 7 straight years. A baseball team with a CWS run, a softball team that went to super regionals, a women's basketball national championship, and 2 track and field national championships. Those sports weren't money makers but when they are winning that big they aren't costing as much as a losing program

Better. Arkansas hurt themselves when they left the SWC as they cut themselves off from the Texas recruiting pipeline. A&M (for obvious reasons) won't have that happen to them.

What hurt Arkansas were the coaches we had, not that we left the SWC. I venture to say that no team would win much with these head coaches. Jack Crowe, Joe Kines, Danny Ford (washed up by the time he came to Arkansas) and Houston Nutt (see how he has “built” his program at Ole Miss).

Arkansas has and always will be able to recruit great players from Texas as long as we have the right coach.

and 18th last year

I'm not flaming here. Just throwing out some info that came out last week.

A&M is once again 18th. Arkansas moved from 17th to 14th.

At #14, Arkansas is still 8th in the SEC. That would make A&M 9th in the SEC.

I'm not sure Ags understand just how far down the pecking order they would be in the SEC.

I didn't take that as a flame at all. It is assumed by some that A&M would have greater value in the SEC and jump a couple of the teams in front of them. That would remain to be seen. As it is in the Big XII this year we will get about 6 million more than we did last year. That would bump us from 18 to 16 in front of Arkansas and Mich St. Then it's a another 10 million jump to #15 USCw. That would be harder to reach instantly. Maybe over time as long as the program is winning

Also, last year was our first dedcent season in a while. This year we should move up a spot or two while in the Big XII still.

Trust me. No Ag thinks the SEC is easy. But it's fair. That's all we want. There's nothing fair in the Big XII. And that's coming from A&M who has the advantage over most of the other schools. Dan Beebe is a Longhorn puppet. So screw'em all. Let's head East, Ags!

I'm wondering if this will still be the party line 10 years after you have joined the SEC and are slated on average to finish 4-7th in the West division every single year with just an outside chance of occasionally competing for the West title if the stars align.

Pretty much. There is a small portion of our fan base that would give up the money to go and play in an easier conference like the Big 12 is and its geographically a better fit for us so it makes some sense.

We're never gonna leave but I can't help but chuckle at the A&M fans that have the exact same thoughts that they are gonna come in and roll the SEC like we thought we would.

It's gonna turn out the same way for them as it did for us. No matter what they think they will fall behind Alabama, LSU, Auburn and theoretically OU in the West pecking order. They will slot in right around Arkansas and above the MS schools in win %.

Did you think I made up the loan?

https://www.theeagle.com/am/A-amp-amp-M-athletics-reworks-budget-to-pay-loan

quote:

In late 2008, the Texas A&M athletic department was scrambling to meet an ominous deadline. The department had less than a year before it was to begin repaying a $16 million loan arranged by previous A&M President Robert Gates and athletics director Bill Byrne. The loan gave the department four years to use university money to shore up budget shortfalls, and the first payment was due in the fiscal year that starts Sept. 1, 2009. But the department was facing two more years of projected deficit spending, and finance officials expressed concern that something needed to be done, records show.

And this $ was borrowed from a university that is so mismanaged that it had to abandon toilet paper:

https://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/health/7118034.html

quote:

That famous scene from Seinfeld soon may be playing out thousands of times in dorm bathrooms across the Texas A&M campus. It's come to that. To save money, the Department of Student Affairs is considering shelving free toilet paper in the residence halls. Discussions still are under way, but it's likely that the larger dorm bathrooms — where four or more gather - will keep the necessary item in stock. Other cost-cutting measures under consideration: Not buying new furniture for Rudder Theater, reducing student worker wages, eliminating one exhibition a year in University Arts, eliminating cell phone stipends for several staff members and reducing the amount of paper, toner and other supplies throughout the year. The toilet paper savings would wipe away about $82,000 of the $2.2 million that Student Affairs has been charged to reduce in its operating budget for fiscal year 2012. The department's reduction plan was released Tuesday, along with almost $40 million in proposed downsizing across the campus.

Dr. Drunk. The loan is not new news. Everybody knows about it. All I said is we weren't in jeopardy of going "belly-up". That's insane to think.

Our athletic department is fine with money. We are currently building a new basball stadium and are scheduled to start renovationg Kyle Field after this football season including Sherman's state of the art "football village". This to go along with the indoor track and football buildings already built and the Bright Complex for all athletes and the additions to the basketball arena. We are upgrading all our facilities so that they rival anybody's in the country

It isn't fair which only contributes to the instability of the B12. This is why there are so many of us that recognize the time is now to come home to the SEC.
