You mean to the day Mississippi fired the only coach that brought them to double digit wins in FORTY years?

Yeah, firing that guy was a stroke of brilliance.

The Tennessee football program would be so much better off had Fulmer been fired after the 2005 season.

So I'm supposed to thank him for underachieving with Eli fricking Manning at QB? frick that shite.

He lost to fricking Memphis and Texas Tech that year too. Excuse me for being bitter.

He started Rob Roberson(who? Exactly) over Patrick Willis.

Letting Fulmer go wasn't the problem... hiring two idiots afterwards (and possibly a third) is the problem.

This.

TN leadership has been the main problem.

Dolly Parton could make better hires.

Dude, FORTY motherfricking YEARS.

Yes, you should've genuflected and fellated him.

But you're right, y'all were WAY better off with the Houma Ogre.

Did I say I was happy with Oregeron? Or Nutt? Hell Nutt got us to TWO Cotton bowls(FIFTY)

We were two plays away from losing five games and playing in Shreveport again in 03. Cutcliffe had one good year because he had a god damn legend at QB. We returned a majority of our starters the next year and went 4-8.

He's mediocre at best.

Fulmer was getting stagnant and they needed a change, the issue now is that they hired 2 bufoons instead. I mean think about if UT hired someone like a Saban and bama made a blunder hire, or held onto shula. The cfb landscape would be totally different.

Btw this is a major reason why I think it would be foolish to fire Richt (one of many reasons). There isn't anyone out there that is DEFINITELY an upgrade and a better option.

He set or tied every meaningful passing record at Ole Miss. Too bad his defense gave up 40+ to Memphis.

this is the same logic i use for saying we still should've fired Fulmer. Even though we made two (possibly three) awful hires after him that no one was happy with it does not change the fact that he needed to go

Tennessee is serving as a cautionary tale right now. I actually think it's part of the reason Richt wasn't fired after the 2010 season.

With that said, UT needed a change. Their program wasn't going anywhere. The subsequent bad hires created the dumpster fire in Knoxville.

Very very well put. Deserved to be quoted and posted again.
