SMU lost. They should be penalized for it. Whether or not that should knock them out is a different question. Evaluate the resumes. If they are still good enough keep them but if not they should be out.

I don't think it was an upset. Miami had struggles on defense all year and won some close games, on controversial calls.
Reality is Miami had "backdoored" their way into being in a position to be in ACC title game.
Think the Cuse QB would start for most SEC teams including SC.

Miami needed to win on road because Clemson only had 1 loss in ACC.
it's not Clemson's fault Miami wasn't clutch. Syracuse is a rowdy and unusual place for a game

yes, but making a conference title game as a 1 loss team vs a 2 loss team isn't backdooring. Clemson had the 2nd best regular season record in the ACC.
Miami had two controversial wins in the ACC, over Cal and Va Tech.

don't understnad the SEC cheerleading when SC didn't play UGA, Tenn, or Texas and lost to Ole Miss and Bama. SC went 8-3 because it didnt play the 3 best SEC teams.
Winning at Clemson is SC's best win and I give SC credit for that but it didn't amoung to anything for SC.

I don't believe Clemson is necessarily the best ACC team given we didn't play Miami, G Tech or Cuse this year. Think we could lose to all 3, because we lost to SC.
Also, Louisivlle dominated Clemson, Clemson. Clemson choked against SC but Louisville had game control.
