So exactly how many national titles does LSU have to show for that?

I am utterly amazed at the neophytes on this board, who think Nick Saban is living Alabama. Here are the reasons why he is not leaving.
1. Has spent seven years, pouring blood and sweat into building Bama into the greatest college football program of all time.
2. Saban's class this year will be his best ever. Bama is now a national program plucking the top players.
3. Saban's getting a healthy raise.
4. Saban will win or be in the title hunt until he retires.
5. Even Saban knows that his success is in large part due to the passionate fan base and support that would be difficult at best to duplicate elsewhere.
6. He has a statue.
7. He likes his job.
8. His family likes their place in life. Why risk throwing all that away for what? Another statue elsewhere, a few more millions when you can't spend what you have now. The love and respect of a whole state?

Saban is not going anywhere.

I agree with all of this. Having said that, I'm hearing 75% to Texas. Not trolling, just what I'm getting from my insider.

If he goes he goes. He's given enough to Bama that I'll wish him well.It just doesn't make any sense to me.

But there's a lot of things that don't make sense.

That said,I want him to stay and retire at Alabama with a pile of Rings.

You know, I don't really care one way or another as it's just football. However, if Saban does leave, I am going to fricking love seeing the meltdown of all these Alabama fans.

Yeah the house deal, which is pretty much confirmed, is sorta like the smoking gun. But nothing is 100% in this business. I'm still skeptical. This would be a very uncharacteristic move for UT. But things have changed and the movers & shakers behind the scenes are driving the bus now more than ever - politics and public perception be damned.

Truthfully, I'm sorry that college football has gotten to this level of intensity & importance. Guys like Bryant, Royal, and a whole lot of legendary coaches probably never realized more than $100K in a year. The importance of the game is out of balance and it has filtered down to the high school level whereby 8th graders are getting scholarship offers. High school football coaches are the highest paid people in their school districts. Cities are building $50 million dollar stadiums for their kids. Just seem so out of balance to me. I love football, but its importance is over-inflated in my opinion.

Yep. John Wooden never took a salary increase while at UCLA, $25,000/year. Made his money on camps and lecture circuit - plus books that he authored.

I will say that in Saban's case, the investment has paid huge dividends to the entire university.
