I don't ever see them in a conference in which they are not considered the top academic school. That's why Rice was never going to be allowed to join the Big 12.

That’s bama 4 rest of sec 1.
Posted on 1/15/19 at 9:19 pm to CGSC Lobotomy
That’s not true. Not joining the PAC has way more to do with logistics and geography than playing second fiddle to Stanford.
And Rice is a teeny little science school with a good baseball team and nothing else. Had nothing to do with it.
But i appreciate the effort!

quote:its remarkable how yall have completely talked yourselves into this line of reasoning
A&M turned down the partner programming option & OU, Nebraska each were sourcing at the same time.
Those minor details never seem to make the conversation.
Posted on 1/15/19 at 9:43 pm to WestCoastAg
Nebraska made millions off pay-per-view non-conference games against the likes of Akron and had no interest in a conference network.
It was really astounding that they lied about this as cover for cowering away from UT Austin.
Aggy was projected to run $4 million annual deficits for four years forward, necessitating a $16 million loan from the university. Then magically, aggy started lying about its motives and sought a more prosperous prostitute position with the SEC.
Arkansas cashed out from the SWC with no ill will toward TEXAS. Colorado tried to beat Baylor out of a spot in the Pac and were orphaned when TEXAS decided to keep the Big 12 together.
Missouri always coveted the Big 10 and had to take an SEC invite to save face after the Big 10 turned them down.

A&M has the votes to assure that Texas never gets in the SEC so this is a moot discussion. Texas is aware, and won't even try as their ego couldn't handle the rejection.
Texas is a bad team player, and look out only for themselves to the detriment of everyone around them. That is their reputation now - conference killer

Among message board yahoos like you, sure. You, as an aggy, are used to falling for the company line.
But UT Austin is the belle of the ball in conference expansion, and will get what they want, when the time is right. That being, the Pac, and probably with the Longhorn Network.

You always leave the part out where Texas is a dick to everyone and refuses to share equally!
Posted on 1/15/19 at 10:35 pm to Smart Post
The only place that Texas is the belle of the ball besides the fantasies in your head is at a Sadie Hawkins dance for the deaf and blind!
NO ONE wants your liberal primadonna school. You don't have the best diplomas in Texas because Texas A&M does as we get paid more than sippies. Texas A&M ranks first in graduate salaires in Texas again!
You don't have all of the money that you claim which belongs to the six medical schools in your system and the other 15 universities in your system. For such a big mouth school why does Texas A&M's research expenditures dwarf the University of Texas?
Take your bravado bull shite back to the Big 12-2 board where you might be able to convince someone that you are big time. Because everyone over here knows that you are just a liberal cocks for glocks wanna be school. That is why you hang out on the big boy board...Secrant! You will never be allowed in the SEC so get F'ing lost!

Tell us all why tu’s Last 7 capital funding campaigns have failed to reach 25% of their goals and why 6 of 7 have been abandoned

Several years ago, Texas and Texas A&M discussed creating a cable network together. Byrne said he couldn't commit until he examined the expenses because Texas' budget dwarfs A&M's.
"Once we did that, we said we'd be interested but they said it was too late," he said. "There's a rumor that I turned down $300 million. If anybody knows me, I wouldn't turn down $300 million."
Will you ever be right? Consummate aggy to the core

Only an idiot would take that deal.
That detail seems to be always absent from your posts.

Maybe you should cite a source that isn't Kirk Bohls. Nowhere in that quote disputes anything I posted. (Byrne was Bohls' leak into the A&M athletic department and threw a massive temper tantrum when Byrne "retired")
Keep in mind you're championing an athletic director who actually said FOR ATTRIBUTION that he would prefer to keep the football team off TV in order to increase ticket sales. The same AD who threatened to fight a fan who criticized his opinion about the SEC move. The same AD who, when it became clear that he was going to do everything in his power to maintain the status quo was SHUT OUT of realignment negotiations by Loftin. (Loftin basically told Byrne to shut the frick up if he wanted to retire instead of being fired)
Leadership for A&M was putrid from 2006-2011.
Mike McKinney was the worst person you could possibly pick for Chancellor. Not only that, but he was the one who got Sherman locked into a 7-year guaranteed contract before he even stepped on campus.
Elsa Murano was a figurehead at best.
Bill Byrne attempted to do everything on the cheap, writing in payraises for titles in non-revenue sports and refusing to take any meaningful risks.
Is it any coincidence that the second that Mike McKinney was replaced by John Sharp that things got immeasurably better?

What about where they demanded that the city of Austin pay for their replacement Tennis Center and were laughed out of the conference room? What about the fact that they claim ALL Erwin Center revenue as their own even though it's property of the city?

You put down Aggies like we have no cognitive ability. Funny thing is that we do more with less and our diplomas get us paid more than sippies. Either your school sucks or your grads suck. I figure it is both!
Texas A&M ranks first in graduate salaries in Texas again!
Go away and F yourself at the same time!!!

It clearly disputes everything you stated.
Your stupidity is only exceeded by the gluttony for punishment.
Not only is your Aggy lore laughable, Byrne himself inadvertently turned down the deal by calling Dodds back over TWO YEARS after the initial conversation. 2 fricking years? By then Texas & ESPN were already in bed enjoying a post sex cig.

Yeeessss we believe you! Tessus is a benevolent father. Deloss Dodds was prescient. He saw the future.
Only problem all the benefits in recruiting and every other benefit Tessus thought they were going to get went to shite. No bump in recruiting or results on the field!
Poor stupid sips. Aggies are getting more money from the SEC than your dumb bass even with your Longhorn Network! You have never received $15 million in a year and never will. This year you split $11.6 million with ESiPN.

The tennis center has been built (not sure where Old Sarge is getting failed construction projects or running deficits -- UT has contributed $40 million to The University's academics over the past four years, unlike aggy needing a $16 million bailout).
The Frank Erwin Center belongs 100 percent to The University of Texas (another strange claim).

Why would UT split the money with the very entity that's providing the money, by contract? That makes no sense whatsoever.
I think you are confusing the fact that the UT athletics department splits the millions of dollars with the academic side. That's a foreign concept for aggy, which needs university bailouts, student fees and hotel taxes to keep its athletics department afloat.
