the NCAA deferred to the AP and UPI polls to pick the national championship in college football.

Then how come they're giving us credit with '60 on their site?

Southern Living magazine doesn't count as a reliable source for picking football NC's.

sorry, individual titles are excluded. As it stands, Ole Miss has 0 NCAA or AIAW sanctioned team National Championships

NCAA/AIAW Titles School
42 Arkansas
42 LSU

17 Tennessee
14 Auburn
12 Texas A&M
10 Alabama
10 Kentucky
3 South Carolina
2 Missouri

Something's wrong here, because we're 1 or 2 behind UG on the NCAA site.

But Football Writers of America does.
Hell, everyone and their mother gives Bama credit for a national title in a year they lost 4 games.

Negative. Go check the NCAA website. We have championships in tennis, one in track this year and they recognize us as champions in 1960 football.

Then SCAR's multi national championships in Equestrian count, right?

Wrong.

The FWAA is not "Southern Living magazine."
In fact, they waited until after the bowl games to select their champion BEFORE the AP and Coaches/UPI.

So, are you saying Alabama only has one National Championship in football?

Here's another good site
LINK of all NCAA titles by school in all divisions.

Abilene Christian and Kenyon College have more NCAA titles than any SEC school....

Bingo. Pretty sure AFTER the bowl games Ole Miss was the only undefeated team left in the country. If it went by today's standard (minus the BCS) of waiting until after the bowl games to crown a national champion, Ole Miss wins unanimously.

Yep.
Meanwhile, Minnesota already had a loss and then got plastered by Washington in their bowl game.

If you claim 15 we can claim 3.
If the NCAA recognizes 13 for Bama it recognizes 1 for us.

Before the BCS, polls in which coaches and/or sportwriters voted, such as the AP, UPI, and USA Today polls, awarded championships. This led to seasons in which two or even more teams could claim to have won a national championship.

Exactly. And Ole Miss, along with Minnesota, were those teams awarded national championship that year.
