The better question would be, could he have won a Natty at LSU?

Kirby at LSU? Yes, and a slight no, the slight no being that Ed O hiring that passing coordinator from the Saints, I forget his name, turned LSU from great to Elite that year, that has to be top 5 hire in LSU football history that will probably be forgotten, he would crush being a college OC had he not left

Probably not.

I have to admit something though. Georgia fans are extraordinary loyal to their head coaches. I think that's a good example of class.

The better question is why did it take Saban 9 years to win a natty once he became a head coach in D1?

he's a mediocre coach but he's at a dormant program. UGA is like Tennessee and Nebraska. You can't win a title there anymore.

I hate UGA as much as the next guy but the East in general has been a complete joke since Tebow left. UGA easily has the most impressive record of anyone in our division in the last decade and it’s not relatively close. That’s why I’m hoping a true champ coach at some lower tier program starts blowing things up in the next 2-3 years and hops ship for Gainesville so we can get back to being elite.

So you're telling me those schools don't want to consistently pull in top three recruiting classes

What good does it do to bring in top recruits if you can't coach them up? Ask most any auburn fan that and they would want their coach fired after he has proven he can't coach. And talk about poor decisions..... letting Justin Fields sit on the bench while he played Jake Fromm.... Really!! Fields scorched "Clempson" last season in the playoffs. Fromm was mediocre on a good day.

Would he be free to purchase people at the level he is now, unchallenged?
