is the point of even bothering to play games? If a team is considered the 4th best team in the country (and thus on pace to make the playoff), and then they lose a road game to #3 by 1 on a last second field goal, I would still consider them the 4th best team b/c losing at #3 by 1pt doesn't prove anything negative about you.
The problem with this? -- it makes that game completely and absolutely pointless b/c if either of those teams was the x best team before the game, losing by 1pt does not indicate they are anything worse than what you previously thought of them. You have to reward or punish teams based on results of games or else there's no point in playing them

Agree. This will be a total shitshow.

it depends on who is behind them. Sometimes they will deserve to maintain that position. Others the teams behind them will have comparable resume and will jump due to loss.

I see some major growing pains the first few years. Take a poll of the 4 best teams before the bowls and the best teams after, and see if they look alike. Without interleague play, it will be status quo to the BCS System.

Secret ballots are a fricking joke

This is going to be bad... well at least it's a play off.

If this is how it works out people will be begging for the BCS to return. I honestly don't know that it will be even remotely fair - humans are more apt to be pressured into weighing geographic AND conference diversity and even popularity of any given team whether they're the best teams or not. For example if the SEC had two of the best teams and the ACC had the other two - I don't believe the selection committee would have an all SEC/ACC playoff they'd be forced to take someone from another league even if they weren't the best.

It will be fine. There are always different scenarios and the people voting should have flexibility. Eventually it will go to 16 teams and people will just bitch about who they have to play first.

If/when that happens college football will suck. One of the things that makes it entertaining is every game matters - playoffs ruin that.

Sounds like somebody is about to get fricked out of a title shot

After a few years of this shite people will be crying for the BCS to come back.

Having a committee was about the damn stupidest idea for this playoff they could've come up with.
They should just use the BCS rankings and make the top 4 play at the end of the year.

But yeah, I agree with what you're saying. Most years the top 2 SEC teams should get in. I bet most years we only get one in though because of all the SEC hate.
