Then there's no way Washington is second on that list.

I would love to see the spread on UGA vs Washington. I'm thinking -11 UGA

The spread against Oregon was Washington +9.5

UGA played a soft schedule and lost to the only elite team they played.

Washington played a tougher schedule and was 2-0 against their elite team test

If it's truly the best 4 teams, it's Alabama, Georgia, Michigan, and OSU. Those 4 teams would be favored at a neutral site against everyone else in the country. That's why this system is broken. They try to have a mixture of "four best teams" and "four most deserving teams" at the same time. It just doesn't work because there's not clear, defined metric where teams know what they need to do to make it. When winning every game on your schedule isn't enough, then we have issues.

That said, I don't really know what a good solution would be when you have 130+ teams outside shrinking college football down to 64 teams with 8 division champs and 8 wildcards making the playoffs.

UGA strength of schedule was weak. Hard to determine with close games to Auburn and even some early stumbles against GA Tech and Mizzou. I just think back-to-back champs deserve an edge in this
