We have a double bye so there is very little chance we will face a SC or LSU

Hence the or part of the possible scenario. Tanking is a BAD idea.

I agree that it might be more impressive, but it doesn’t mean nearly as much as winning the NCAA tournament

I think tanking is a bad idea. Keep the competitive spirit going.

That said: if any player, including Broome, is less than 100% - put his butt on the bench until Sunday (if you get that far).

Losing to one of the top 8 teams will not hurt you if you have starters on the bench healing up.

They've said before that conference tournaments aren't part of their selection criteria; why would any team not already bound for the tournament risk a starter to play for a conference tournament title?

Why would you risk a Broome or a Sears and then lose by the Sweet 16 for a conference trophy?

Winning conference tournaments is more of a bit of trivia; making a Final Four and beyond cements a team's legacy.

Someone like Florida or Tennessee or Bama that thinks they're good enough to win the tournament are going to want the feather under the cap. If Auburn wins the regular season they will already some hardware secured. March Madness is too chaotic to bank on so gotta get that hardware someway
