I had no idea basketball and baseball picked 2 teams to play for a national championship game.

Let me simplify; If two teams being selected to play in a championship makes it "mythical", then why aren't the teams that win in basketball, where the tournament participants are SELECTED, or baseball, where the regional participants and therefore eventual CWS participants are SELECTED, also mythical?

The fact is, in all college sports the participants in playoffs are selected to an extent. This isn't pro where participants are eliminated based on only on field performance, mainly due to the fact that there are hundreds of schools and such dissimilar schedules.
NCAA football selects 2 teams for its 1 game playoff. Basketball selects 64 or 68, whatever. Just the facts.
