Spot on IMO

The idea that OM fans say that other OM fans don't care about the EB is hilarious, and it exposes their insecurity. The football rivalry has been going on for over 100 years. OM will never be a power in the West, and neither will State, or Arkansas. All 3 schools will have their years, but the Western Division will keep them from achieving their ultimate goal. The only way OM and State could potentially dominate the west would be to combine assets. That will never happen.
It is also silly when other fan bases talk about OM or Mississippi State. They are always at least a few years behind the times when commenting about rivalry, coaching situations, etc. The subject of this thread is retrospective, and a good example of a beaten dead horse.

look at Rick Stansbury. best basketball coach in MSU history fired for guy who's absolutely clueless.
The fact that you think Rick Stansbury was anything more than a recruiter is laughable at best. And the fact that you think Rick Ray is clueless shows your complete inept ability to properly discuss basketball.
So

David Cutcliffe, went 7-5ish for 5 seasons then went 4-7 once + an egg bowl win, fired.

One major program in the state would be a very scary thing for the rest of the SEC.

Why don't you guys focus on winning 6 and then we can have this discussion.

I truly wish this could happen one day! You are correct Sir.

is that enough to coach into perpetuity at their respective school?
7-5 is not enough for us.

I'm going to catch some hell for saying this but a coach that consistently went 7-5 with an Egg Bowl at Ole Miss would be gone in 5 years if he didn't pull off some wins over LSU or Bama. I can't say the same for State. They would eventually want more but a coach that does that would last longer at State than Ole Miss.

I see your point, but at the same time, Mullen would be gone right now if it weren't for the immediate outlook. He's done exactly what we are discussing here, 7-8-9 wins a year and winning the egg bowl. I think the only reason people aren't lighting the fire is the return of all but like 6 guys in our two deep. If we win 9+ this year, I think he would still be gone in a few more 7-8 win seasons. And thats a little unfortunate, because neither school is going to ever do better than getting to bowls and being really good once a decade.

Come on. The reason his seat's safe is because he won the Egg Bowl.
Y'all were all aboard the Hudspeth express before Thanksgiving. Don't act like you all were this secure and happy with Mullen six months ago.

With Freeze in the same situation you would have been the same way. Your point?
