So it turns out that it is a “mountain man” movie.
Mountain man stuff was a very big deal for a while there in the early mid 70’s when I was too little to really know much about it - case in point was Grizzly Adams/

Assuming you are serious...it is Robert Redford in the movie Jeremiah Johnson. (I think that was the name of the movie)
