I read another article where the author made a case for rebuilt OSU, there were four guys mentioned: Pickens, Miles, Gundy and someone else I can't remember. CLM helped, with others, to lay the groundwork. Coach Gundy has made it even better.

I saw a video they did about Miles' time at OSU in that series and they said that Miles' departure sent a message to the AD/Boone that the coaching/football ops side was just as important as the $$$$ side. The football ops couldn't let the donors run rough shot over them and Miles' departure made them realize that and back off, allowing Gundy to thrive.

The 'money guys' always seem to be trouble, necessary but trouble.

Gundy was around 55-70 on the salary list before this spring IIRC. They low balled him for years and wouldn't re-up him. Gundy was serious about looking around if they didn't bring him closer to fair market value.

Colorado was ready to line his pockets. Arizona and Arizona St. both were looking hard at him.

There were some rumblings we went after hard too but tried to keep it very quiet. I would have been ecstatic, I think he's a hell of a coach despite being weird and I can't believe OSU treated him the way they did.

I absolutely believe Les Miles is better than Mike Gundy. Miles has had his goof ups, but at the end of the day is a better coach and has accomplished a lot more. Gundy could not have been given a much better situation. Miles left OSU in good shape, then a couple years later they get a gazillion dollar donation from Pickens. frick Gundy.

you do realize the facilities at osu are far better now vs what they were when miles arrived? miles beat oklahoma his first year, it took gundy 6 or 7. btw, i live in oklahoma, and 90% of the osu fans admit miles a great coach.

Beating the Sooners in consecutive seasons brought them more joy than anything Gundy did prior to this last season.

I wonder if Okie St. would swap right now coach for coach? I think Gundy could do just as good as Miles at LSU . On the other hand could Miles keep up the success at Okie St. that Gundy has built?

IMO, you have it backwards. The only way Gundy would last in the SEC if he were to hire a great DC. His style would not do well in this conference IMO. I think any top tier coach like Miles or Saban could make it anywhere in college because of their style.

You have to be physical to have any success and Miles brought that to OSU so it would've took Gundy longer to get OSU where their at.

Mike Gundy's record for the last 4 years as head coach 2008 9-4 , 2009 9-4 , 2010 11-2 , 2011 12-1 with a bowl win over #4 Stanford.

Just proves my point that I have been making to the Hawg fans that they need to get the Waltons and the Tysons together and wad up a big ball of cash and go get CMG... All of the responses I get are OMG! not Gundy...

I guess Hawgs will be Hawgs...
