Soccer? That’s besides the point.

College baseball smack talk.

Your argument is the sports that have the most viewers are the most cared about. So based on your standards, the sports that people here really care about are soccer, track and field, cycling, cricket; and skiing. Seems like a solid argument. No doubt everyone here cares about that. The SEC is missing the boat with football. We need to dismantle SEC football and put that money towards soccer, cycling, and cricket. It will be so profitable. Here are the 5 most watched sporting events in history. They must be the most cared about. The SEC really missed it on this one.

First of all, you didnt ask me. You asked captdalton. But ill play. Im assuming this is the one you were referring to...

Why are the TV viewing numbers so low if it’s as popular as you claim?
More people went to the games. The number he posted was for attendance. 64.49 million people is a lot of people to show up that dont care about it.
Your turn...

What are those numbers? You have talked about numbers. But all you have typed are letters. What are the actual numbers behind your argument?
Posted on 6/23/23 at 10:37 pm to im4LSU
If your entire argument is “our semi-final game barely outpaced the attendance of a regular season MLB game, thus we’re popular,” then you have a wild misconception of what constitutes popularity in sports.
Is track popular because people watched Usain Bolt at the Olympics? Is mountain climbing popular because tens of millions of people watched a documentary about it on Netflix? Is women’s college bball popular because people tuned in for just the final TWO games of the season? What about hot dog eating?
Louisianas are easily impressed, I suppose. Not much to do in the other LA lol
College baseball is factually, objectively, statistically NOT a top twenty viewed sport in America. Check fricking mate. Sit down.
You’re like the WNBA. Financed by another actually popular sport, yet desperately crying about your own popularity.
The WNBA outdrew college baseball, you fricking morons.

Maybe stick to American sports?

And you posted about soccer in a baseball thread
Furthermore, the MLB isn’t viewed only in America, you know that right?
MLB is made up of players from all over the world. The best player in the league right now is Ohtani. Think they aren’t watching him back home?

You are the one that mentioned billions of viewers. You are the one that posted about soccer. Please tell me about the “American” sport that has ever had billions of people view it. I will then hang up and listen. You seem to be the one that keeps moving the goalposts after the football has been kicked.
Your argument is that people don’t care about baseball. That is not true. A LOT of people care about baseball. As many as SEC football?
Post up some numbers and we can decide how much more people care about football than baseball. Until then you are just having an emotional “I think” argument.

You asked if a number was big, but in comparison to what other number? So I randomly made up a large number and a small number to compare it to. Those made up numbers were in reference to no sport or league in particular.
Post some relevant numbers to prove your point.

People usually say this when they are referring to a vast majority of people
There are 258,327,312 adults in America and 96.5% of those DID NOT watch the Alabama vs Kansas St. Sugar Bowl.
Seems like the vast majority of people do not care about college football either.
Time to shut this website down and stop discussing this useless sports thing since the vast majority of people do not like what we like.

There you go, turning their own argument around on them for like the 9th time in this thread

The top two also rank as the most-watched baseball or softball games on cable this year, college or pro.

Game averages 683,000 viewers on ESPN, with a peak audience of one million
Viewership on Disney-owned sports network was up 103 per cent from the previous campaign’s opening day game
2023 season’s opening day was the most viewed on ESPN platforms in 11 years
Context:
The WNBA season opener was widely anticipated given it marked the return of Mercury center Brittney Griner, who had missed the previous season after being detained in Russia. The positive viewing figures will also serve as a boost for the league as it prepares to negotiate its next series of domestic broadcast partnerships.
That was the highly anticipated first game back for Griner on opening day, too. Lying doesnt help prove arguments.

I see, youre just here for cool points and "gotchas". Not one point in this thread has anyone mentioned the idea that college baseball was one of the most watched sports in America as you are suggesting. Its merely pointing out that contrary to what others on this board (mainly your dawg buddies) have brought up, that many people do in fact watch and care. That is supported by the fact that they have outdrawn 2 of the major leagues premier team's (and biggest rivalry) head to head matchup.
We get it. UGA isn't in the spotlight at the moment and you've gotten used to it over the past 2 years. You're just lashing out and looking for attention. Its a new money thing. You'll get used to it
