I was surprised how close it was from Fayetteville to CornVegas myself. Of course I rarely think of the land of corn to the north...
Also, cornfields start around Carthage and Joplin. Missouri is a corn-state.

I'm rooting for Arkansas since they're only an hour away. They have a GREAT fan base. One of the best in the SEC, top 10 in the all of NCAA. That whole state from north, south, east, west love the Razorbacks. Plus when you have a BIG Razorback pic on the side of a mountain on I-40 that says a lot. How many years have that sign been up there, I'm sure it's over 15-20yrs. I always look for it on I-40 on my way to Louisiana.

Very true

I took note of where the corn started this trip, due to all of the "cultural fit" conversations on the Rant. I'm such a rantard.
For the record, CORN starts about 30 miles north of the Arkansas/Missouri border. Arkansas has no corn. Its funny how quickly the south ends and the midwest corn-belt begins.

I can't remember not seeing it...and that's a long time.

Exactly. That's the modern-day cultural Mason Dixon line, and Columbia is well north of it. By the time you hit the Appleton City exit you will need a winter coat 365 days a year. It's always cold in the great white north. Might want to chain your tires to be safe

Also jarring is the dearth of BBQ in Nebraska, and the preponderance of "runza" restaurants.

No. Don't you do this. Don't you start talking like this.

100% agree, the only places I ate at was the hotel restaurant and Arbys. No go-to places I was missing out on

btw I'll be in KC this weekend, gonna punch all Mizzou fans I see wearing gear with an SEC logo on it.
seriously though how bad a drive is it from KC to Omaha? Was originally just flying in and out of KC for the weekend but recent developments have me wondering about a detour to Omaha Sunday or Monday.
Then I'll be wearing a black and gold SEC shirt, just for you.
The drive is really easy, should make it in less than three hours and it's simple highway driving the whole way. Stop for a beer on me on your way back thru KC.

That's why I've always thought Mizzou was a better fit for the B1G. Campus, location to their schools, etc. But Mizzou fans want to play with the Big Boys and feel more "SOUTHERN" I hope they have fun getting skull fricked in football, baseball, track and field, etc each year. Hey at least they have mens basketball and softball to be competitive in.

Missouri is as southern as Kansas and Illinois.
But, they're coming and bringing their cornfields with them.

Also, I-29 is a really boring Interstate highway

The state is so varied depending what part you are in, we could fit in most conferences. It's a blessing and a curse in this age of conference expansion.
