I said 8 months ago that Chambliss was the #1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft

And of course everyone on tRant said I was nuts. 2 upvotes, 37 downvotes
There were a few others who said he'd go late 1st round, but the consensus was 2nd-3rd round.
Receipts inside
It's interesting to speculate on where he deserved to go, if he had declared for the 2026 draft. The first 5 QB's taken were:
1.1 Mendoza
1.13 Simpson
3.1 Beck
3.12 Allar
4.10 Klubnik
Other than possibly Mendoza, who would you rather have on that list over Chambliss? It's not even close

Well, the answer is Mendoza. You can't exclude the #1 pick to justify your selection of a hypothetical #1 pick.
He would not have gone over Mendoza in last years draft. Simpson was a bit of a surprise in Rd1. Chambliss is likely #2 QB off the board in the 1st had he come out

He doesn't have the size for an NFL qb. Probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

I’m not saying he would have gone #1, I’m saying he should have gone #1 l, had he declared.
And that is becoming more obvious every game he plays.
I can see Mendoza, maybe, but nobody else comes close to him as a franchise altering player.

Correct. NFL likes more than one season of starting film for college qb’s. You can get away with it if you’re pro typical size. Chambliss being smaller needs to show he can sustain the production and even elevate from last year to move himself into the top pick discussion.
If it’s strictly intangibles, throwing ability, processing, etc he’d be the first pick. Only a few guys succeed at his height. He may but it’s an uphill climb.
